Ashish Patil, age 27, passed away on March 16, 2014, at his home in Silsbee, after a nine month battle with metastatic sarcoma. Ashish was born on June 10, 1986, in Beaumont, to Dr. Jairaj and Kalindi Patil of Silsbee. Ashish grew up in Silsbee, and graduated from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, Beaumont in 2004.After high school, he attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he received a B.A. in History and was a four-year letter winner in men’s tennis. Ashish served as captain of the tennis team in 2007-2008 and received Vassar College’s Francis Fergusson Coaches’ Award in 2008.After graduating in 2008, he went on to complete a Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Pre-Medical Sciences at Harvard University. He was accepted into medical school at the University of TexasMedical Branch, Galveston, but was unable to begin in 2013 due to his illness. Ashish loved Boston and New York City, and has many lifelong friends who provided him strength and encouragement throughout his battle with cancer. Ashish is survived by his parents; and older sister, Dr. Rashmee Patil of Silsbee. A gathering of Mr. Patil’s family and friends will begin at 3:30 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
