It has been six years since Southeast Texas was hit by a major hurricane. But that doesn’t mean residents should become complacent. Hurricane season began on June 1, and will continue through Nov. 30. Now is the time to prepare. Residents of Hardin County that lived through Hurricane Rita in 2005, and Hurricane Ike in 2008, know the devastation a hurricane can cause. The physical damage to homes and cities is one consideration, but there is so much more.
