The City of Silsbee Mayor Herbert Muckleroy presented an ordinance for the Silsbee Lions Club proclaiming diabetes awareness week for the City of Silsbee from Nov. 8-15. The Silsbee Lions Club will also be holding a DiabetesWalk on Nov. 14 at Lumberton City Park. Accepting the proclamation from the mayor is Lions representative Charles Tarver.

Brookshire Brothers representatives celebrated with Tiffiny Parrish as they present her with a $20,000 check on Thursday, October 8 at the Brookshire Brothers in Kountze where she shops. Brookshire Brothers ran its Hometown Celebration Game from June until the first week in September this year.

The Mott Wholesale Texas Knife and Collectible Knife Show will be held in Spurger on Saturday, October 24. The annual event, which draws between 1,000 and 1,200 people to the Spurger community, will open its doors at 7 a.m.

The Boys & Girls Club of Hardin County is holding its annual “Steak & Burger Dinner” fundraiser on Nov. 12. The western themed event will be held at the Silsbee High School cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m.

The Silsbee Garden met September 22 at St. John’s Episcopal Church for its monthly meeting with 21 members present. Guest was Ana Smith, who is a past member and served as the garden club president in 1963, and the club is glad to welcome her back as a new member.

Silsbee Women’s Club met Thursday, September 10 at the community center for the monthly meeting. The members of the International Outreach Committee served refreshments with foods from other countries.

The Kiwanis Club of Silsbee named the RenderWilson Kiwanian of the Year to Jim Rose (right). Rose was honored with a plaque presented by 2014-15 Kiwanis Club President Steve Cooper. The presentation was at the annual Kiwanis Club Banquet held at the Silsbee Country Club.

The Silsbee Little Theater, the longest continuously running little theater in Texas, is beginning its 2015-2016 season this month. The season runs from September through May with meetings each month except December and a dinner theater production in the spring.
