Michael Bateman

Michael Wayne Bateman, 65, died Thursday, November 20, 2014. Survivors include his wife, Karen Bateman of Silsbee; daughter, Stephanie Walker and husband Joey of Santa Fe; son, Michael Bateman and wife Jennifer of Tampa, Florida; stepdaughters, Cathy Young of Dayton and Karen Diehl of Dayton and Danielle Reese of LaPort; stepson, Nicholas Goodman of Minnesota; sister, Sherry L. Bourgeois of Louisiana; brother, Stephen P. Bateman of Louisiana; and four grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren. No funeral service was held.

Donald Ward

Funeral services for Donald Lee Ward, 73, of Silsbee will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Ward passed away November 22, 2014 at his residence. Donald Lee was a lifelong Silsbee resident. He owned Ward’sWaterWell Service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Mayme Ward. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Ward of Silsbee; daughters, Valecia Ann Vanderlick and husband Luc of Jamison, Pennsylvania, and Sophia Leigh Lewis and husband John of Silsbee; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Frenchie Leroy Gore

Funeral services for Frenchie Leroy Gore, 68, of Buna were at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Morse Cemetery in Buna. Visitation was Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Gore passed away November 19, 2014 at Baptist Hospital. He was a native of Galveston and a longtime resident of Buna. He worked nationally and internationally as an Instrumentation Design Engineer. Mr. Gore proudly served his country in the US Navy. Mr. Gore is preceded in death by his parents, Frenchie and Verna Nethery Gore. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Gore of Buna; sons, Steve Gore and wife Tina of Lobelville, Tennessee and Jason Gore and Lyn of Buna; daughter, Robin Burk and husband Johnny, Jr of Conway, Arkansas; brother, Paul Gore of Silsbee; sisters, Linda Daugherty, Margie Crow and Shirley Whitney, all of Silsbee; grandchildren Emily and Caitlyn Gore, Sam and Lindsey Burks, Ethan Gore and Barry McCollough.

Funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 15 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton with burial following in Leatherwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Wendy JeanWilliams of Lumberton; daughter, Angie Harwell of Lumberton; sons, Cody Williams and Joshua Harwell, both of Lumberton, Josh Mumpower of Virginia, and Dustin Harwell of Lumberton; parents, Cecil and Carolyn Cook of Vidor; sister, Denise Cook Robertson; brothers, Cash Williams and Jake Williams, both of Florida; and six grandchildren.

Bill Fondren, 81, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at his home. Bill retired as district Chief with the Beaumont Fire Department. Survivors include his daughters, Karen McFadden and husband Bobby of Lumberton, Debra Jo Fondren of Lumberton, Bonnie Holcomb and husband Bobby of China and Stacey Fondren-Aubuchon and husband Joseph of Atascocita; sons, Gary Fondren and wife June Danese of Lumberton and Eric Fondren of Lumberton; eight grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. A private family burial was held in Roaganville.

Wendell Cornwell

Wendell L. Cornwell, 90, of Lumberton, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Funeral service was Sunday, Nov. 16 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Knupple Cemetery, also in Silsbee. A native of Beaumont, he worked as a bricklayer at Gulf Oil Corporation for 37 years. He was a United States MarinesWorldWar II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Denson Cornwell; son, Daniel Cornwell of Austin; sister, Joyce Bratcher of Weatherford; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Helen Faye Collier, 85, of Silsbee was at 2:00 p.m. Monday November 17, 2014 at First Baptist Church Silsbee with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Farmer Funeral Home. Mrs. Collier passed away November 14, 2014 at her residence. She was born August 14, 1929 in Merryville, La. and was a longtime resident of Silsbee. Mrs. Collier is preceded in death by her parents,Abraham Lincoln and Bessie Lee Goins Padgett; husband, Joe Robert “JR” Collier; sister, Betty Jo Padgett; and a grandson, Michael Collier. Survivors include sons, Padgett Collier and wife Teri of Silsbee and Mike Collier and wife Renee of Silsbee; grandchildren, Crystal Yellott, Christi Anderson, Elizabeth Franks, Stephanie Pyle, Cypress Collier, Jamie Johnnie, Kendall Johnnie and David Smith; twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mary Sue Ard, 88, of Silsbee were at 11:00 a.m.Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ard passed November 16, 2014 at PineArbor Healthcare. She was born in Haile, Louisiana and was a longtime resident of Silsbee. Mrs. Ard was a housewife and retired store manager for O’Bannions. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, T.W. and Bettie Davis Price; husband, L.G. Jack Ard; and daughter, Patsy Whiteside. Survivors include son, Lane Ard and wife Cindi of Silsbee; daughters, Renee Gallaspy and husband Eddy and Rita Herrington and husband Tim, all of Silsbee; sisters, Adena Price and Tommie Shofner, both of Shreveport; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
