Ellia Dace

Ellia Fisher Dace passed away onMay 11, 2014 at the age of 78. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Silsbee, TX for many years before moving to Kingwood, TX to be near her family. Ellia was devoted to her family with virtuous love. She is survived by her husband Dennis Dace; daughter, Denise Sonnenberg and husband Steve; son, Eric Dace; grandchildren, Zachary and Kristen Sonnenberg; and sister, BettyWooldridge. Ellia was laid to rest at 10:30am on Friday, May 16th at Houston National Cemetery; her family and friends celebrated her life at noon at RosemontAssisted Living, in Humble, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.

James Layfield

James D. Layfield, 91, of Lumberton, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was Sunday, May 18 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Old Hardin Cemetery, also in Kountze. A native of San Augustine County, he was a United States Army World War II veteran and a retired gauger with Sun Oil Company. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Layfield; son, Larry Dewayne Layfield and wife Carol of Lumberton; step-children, Dale Fillingim of Lumberton, Beulah Grant and husband Edward of Sour Lake, and Donny Fillingim of Kountze; and three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Anative of Silsbee and a longtime resident of Kountze, she was a private duty LVN. Survivors include her husband, Bill Smith; daughter, Tabitha Pritchett and husband Greg of Kountze; sons, Bubba Smith of Kountze and Robert Smith and wife Elsa of Houston; sisters, Sandra Mills and Wilma Taylor, both of Silsbee; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ada Shirlene “Shirley” Mc-Connell, 77, of Lumberton, died Monday,May 19, 2014 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care in Silsbee. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. A native of New Hope, she was a longtime resident of Lumberton. Funeral services for Ronald James McCauley, 68, of Silsbee were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at RS Farmer Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. SundayMay 18, 2014 at the funeral home. Mr. McCauley passed away May 15, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Beaumont and a longtime resident of Silsbee. He was the produce manager for HEB in Beaumont and he retired from Basic Food. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Clara McCauley. Survivors include his wife, GlendaMelbaMcCauley of Silsbee; son, Jason Scott Thomas of Brazoria; sisters, Norma Dickson of Conroe, TX, Linda Stizman of Covington, LA, and Lisa Mc- Cauley of Salamanca, NY; five grandchildren Shelby,McCauley, Jason, Gracie, and Noah.
