Frances Taft

Funeral services for Frances Mae Milner Taft, 87, of Seguin were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation started at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Taft died February 3, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. A native of Lumberton, Mrs. Taft lived in Seguin for over 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was well known and well respected in the Lumberton and Silsbee communities. Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Minnie Christopher Drake; sister, Patsy Drake-Freeman; and sons, Mark Milner and John Milner. Survivors include her husband, Joe E. Taft of Seguin; son, Michael Roy Milner of Kountze; daughter, Sharon Okun of Denver CO; brother, Carroll Drake of Dallas; sister, Edna Robicheaux of San Antonio; grandchildren Angela Milner, Darrell Okun and Renee Okun-Boykin and five great grandchildren.

Marlene Riceman

Marlene Janice Hogren Riceman, 77, of Silsbee, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Harbor Hospice. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 13 at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A native of Moline, Illinois and a longtime resident of Silsbee, she worked for many years at Hardin Savings and Loan and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Silsbee. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert Riceman of Silsbee; sons, Mark Riceman of Erin, Tennessee and Brian Riceman of Silsbee; daughters, Janice Marshall of Lumberton, Karen Riceman of Beaumont, Laura Powell of Lumberton and Linda Krueger of Vidor; brothers, Marion Hogren and Marshall Hogren, both of Orion, Illinois; sister, Marsha Cox of Orion, Illinois; and nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Elouise Jackson

Elouise Ada Jackson, 91, of Kountze and a native of Slaigle, Louisiana, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Kountze Nursing Center in Kountze. Funeral service was held Sunday, February 8 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. A graveside service was held Monday, February 9 in Welcome Cemetery in Welcome, Arkansas. Survivors include her son, Jerry Jackson and wife Barbara of Kountze; daughter, Sharon Smith and husband Stephen of Austin; sisters, Willie Pearl Burns and Gladys Stalsby; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

AnitaMarie Dear Barlow, 56, of Silsbee, died Friday, January 23, 2015. Funeral service wasWednesday, January 28 at Faith Temple Baptist Church in Silsbee with burial following in Kirby Cemetery, also in Silsbee. Arrangements were under the direction of J.B. Coleman Memorial Mortuary in Silsbee. Born in Kountze, she was a lifelong resident of Silsbee and worked in the nursing field. Survivors include her husband, James O. Barlow of Silsbee; mother, Marie Louise Dear; sons, Joshua Simmons and Brittney of Beaumont and Roy Patterson Jr. and Whinne of Silsbee; daughters, Olivia Simmons and Chris, Angela Simmons Booker and Michael and Courtney Simmons, all of Beaumont; brother, Doby Dear of Lufkin; sister, Christi Hurley of Diboll; and 15 grandchildren.

Priscilla Songe King, 56, of Vidor and a native of Kountze, died Sunday, February 8, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday, February 11) at Texas Total Care, The Fountains Chapel in Vidor. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. Survivors include her children, Tyra Hemmenway of Beaumont, Dallas Hemmenway and wife Brinn of Vidor and Cash Gonzales and wife Beth of Kountze; siblings, Merel Hegele, Leonard Songe III, Delta Daughrity, Sandra Hodge and Harry Songe Sr.: and one grandchild.

James Holbert

James Nathan Holbert Sr., 78, of Silsbee, died Sunday, February 1, 2015. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5 at First United Methodist Church in Silsbee with burial following in Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. A native of Houston, he worked as a chemist in Houston, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He started his own company, Custom Solutions (Cusol) in 1977. He moved to Silsbee in 2000 and retired from Cusol in 2005. He had multiple patents. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara J. Holbert; daughter, JeannieA. Holbert and partner Judy of Conroe; sons, James N. Holbert Jr. and wife Julie of Houston, Mark S. Holbert and wife Dionne of Sugar Land, and Scott A. Holbert and wife Susan of Silsbee; and 12 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Bobby Ray Edwards, 63, of Center, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Briar Cliff Nursing Home in Tyler. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 7 at Carroltown Cemetery in Center under the direction of Community Funeral Home, also in Center. Anative of Center, he was a laborer. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Sells Edwards of Silsbee; daughter, Jacqueline Coleman of Silsbee; son, La- Patrick Edwards of Silsbee; stepsons, Michael Edwards and Theodore Lee Follie Jr., both of Silsbee; and three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Tricia Wright; son, Steven R. Wright and wife Stacey of Sour Lake; daughter, Staci D. Johnson and husbandMichael of Sour Lake; brothers, David Wright and wife Vicki of Archer City and Dr. Edward Wright and wife Jana of Bennington, Vermont; sister, Connie Nowell and husband Joe of Corpus Christi; and three grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. No public service was held. Cremation was under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze.

John Dewey Brumley Jr., 86, of Silsbee, died Thursday, January 29, 2015. Funeral service was Saturday, Jauary 31 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. A native of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, he owned and operated Brumley Logging. Survivors include daughter, GayleMcClusky and husband Reverend KevinMcClusky of Silsbee; sons, Bert Carpenter and wife Martha of Silsbee and Ron Carpenter of Kounze; sister, Joyce Kirkendall and husband Kenneth of Lumberton; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
