Charline Dauphin, 86, died Friday, June 3, 2016. She was born on April 4, 1930, in Benoit, Mississippi, to Violet Southerland Ready and Charles Ready. Charline graduated from Halsville High School and later went to Kilgore College where she was a Rangerette. There she met Sidney “Chief” Dauphin and they later married. Chief and Charline moved to Silsbee in 1961, where Chief worked as a coach at Silsbee High School. In 1969 Chief and Charline made a decision to start their home health business, Texas Home Health, which was started in Silsbee in Charline’s kitchen with three people. After working for thirty-one years and after the untimely death of Chief, Charline sold the business and focused on being a community activist and philanthropist.
