David Smith

David Lynn Smith, 70, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Mauriceville. Survivors include Ann, his wife of 20 years; stepdaughter, Sophia Baumann and husband Chris of Lumberton; daughters, Marilyn Viator, Jamiey Parker, Dana Christian and husband A.J. and Deborah Khibodeaux and husband Jerry; brothers, Donald Smith and wife Betty and Ronnie Smith and wife Vickie; sister, Kathy Greer and husband James; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Amemorial service is pending.

Rito Rodriguez

Rito Rodriguez, a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was born October 17, 1927 in Silsbee, Texas was called to be with our Lord Saturday, December 20, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ysidro Rodriguez and Otilla Gonzalez; and brothers, Joe Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez,Manuel Rodriguez and Serfine Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Rodriguez; children, James (Janelle), Steven (Jacqueline), Gaye (Frank); brother; Ysidro Rodriguez; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services were held in memory of Rito on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Edward Nickerson

A memorial service for Edward Wade “Hot Shot” Nickerson Sr., 58, of Silsbee was at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Mr. Nickerson passed away December 20, 2014 at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston. He was a native of Kountze and a longtime resident of Silsbee. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Nickerson is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eddie Headrick Nickerson; brother, Dana Tanner; and sister, Sandy Tanner. Survivors include wife, Beth Nickerson of Silsbee; sons, John Kellum and wife Virginia of Irving, Brandon Crain and wife Jennifer of Silsbee, and Ed Nickerson Jr. of Midland; daughters, Angel Maestas and husband Chris of New Hampshire and Melody Crain of Silsbee; brothers, Wiley Nickerson and Henry Nickerson and wife Nancy, all of Silsbee; and grandchildren Caleb, Grace, Brynlee, Desiree’, Gabby and Chris Jr.

Mike Fisher

Michael Todd “Mike” Fisher, 45, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was Sunday, December 21 at the First Baptist Church of Loeb in Lumberton with burial following in Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. Mike was a police officer for nearly 20 years, many of those years as a Lumberton Police Officer. Survivors include sons, Colton Michael Fisher and Brock Stanley Fisher, both of Lumberton; daughter, Shelby Rose Fisher of Lumberton; mother, Mary Ann Fisher of Lumberton; and brother, David Christian “Chris” Fisher of Beaumont.

Wanda Jones

Wanda Jones, 67, of Evadale, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was Monday, December 22 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Morse Cemetery in Buna. Anative of Silsbee, she was the Silsbee City secretary for five years and the Evadale ISD bookkeeper for 25 years before retiring. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Lynn Jones of Evadale; daughter, Keisha Christian and husband Kyle of Silsbee; brothers, Billy Berryman and wife Sarah of Orange and Frankie Berryman and wife Eilleen of Baytown; and four grandchildren.

Tine Turner

Tine Turner, 88, of Kountze, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Pine Arbor Nursing Center in Silsbee. Funeral service was Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Hooks Cemetery, also in Kountze. A native of Monticello, Arkansas, Tine retired from the paper mill in Evadale and later owned and operated The Armadillo in Honey Island. Survivors include his daughters, Teena Elkins and husband Don and Tracy Baker and husband Paul, all of Kountze; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Clyde Buckner

Clyde Lynnwood Buckner, 88, of Silsbee, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at Pine Arbor Health Care in Silsbee. Funeral service was Tuesday, December 16 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, also in Silsbee. A native of Huntington, Clyde was a longtime resident of Silsbee. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for TxDot. Survivors include sons, Darrell Buckner of Silsbee, William Buckner of Carthage, Joe Buckner and Walter Buckner, both of Zavalla and Carl Buckner of Brenham; daughters, Peggy Willman and Kathy Vaught, both of Silsbee; brother, Oscar Briant Buckner of Huntington; sister, Geraldean Nerren of Huntington; and 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A private family graveside service was Saturday, December 13 at Hardin Memorial Park in Silsbee under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Survivors include his wife Judy Kellum; sons, Edward Kellum and wife Nakako of Pine Island, Florida and John Kellum of Irving; daughter, Suzanna Kellum-Valdez and husband Jesse of SanAntonio; sister, Leah Goodwin and husband Gene of Abilene; brothers, Joe Kellum and wife Margie of Lake City and David Kellum and wife Denise of Plainview; and three grandchildren.

Johnny McBryde, 65, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Funeral service was Friday, December 12 at Adams E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial in Davis Cemetery. Anative of Kirbyville and a former resident of Buna, he retired from Wood Products Transport/Trucking as operations manager/supervisor. Survivors include his wife, Judy; sons, Trevor McBryde and Kenneth “Bubba” McBryde; daughters, Shannon Wells and husband Ricky, Julie Alexander and husband Gear, and Cheryl Pate; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
