Leonard Barnett

Funeral services for Leonard Ernest Barnett, 78, of Silsbee were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Knupple Cemetery. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Barnett passed away peacefully at his residence July 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Leonard was born inMagnolia Springs and was a long time resident of Silsbee. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Silsbee and worked for Silsbee ISD, retiring after many years as principal of Kirby Elementary. The students and faculty at Kirby adored him. Mr. Barnett is preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Emily Walters Barnett; and brother, J.T. Barnett.

Joe Thomas Barrett Jr., 81, of Buna, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at First Baptist Church in Buna with burial following in Bessmay Cemetery under the direction of Donald E. Coleman Funeral Home in Kountze. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Everia Barrett; daughters, Debra Simon and husband Earnest of Kountze, Druzella Robinson of Buna, Darlene Barrett of Beaumont, Devonda Davis and husband Jerome of Rosharon, Darzell Warren and husband James of Pensacola, Florida, Donna Powers and husband Lester of Rosharon, and JoanneMask of Beaumont; sons, Kensley Barrett Sr.

Bonnie Hendrix

Funeral services for Bonnie Ruth Wheeler Hendrix, 96, of Kountze were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at the 1st United Methodist Church of Kountze under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Interment followed in Old Hardin Cemetery. Visitation was from 12:00 p.m. Friday until time of service at the church. Mrs. Hendrix passed away July 14, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Anative of Enhouse, TX, Bonnie was a long time resident of this area. She was a teacher for West Hardin ISD until retiring. Mrs. Hendrix is preceded in death by her parents,Wright and Etta Greer Wheeler; husband Carroll Wilson ‘Red’ Hendrix; brothers Audrey Wheeler and David Wheeler; sister DorisMcKay and grandson Trent Carpenter.  Survivors include sons, Don Kelton Hendrix of Tyler and Gerald Clifford Hendrix of Mt.

Peggy S. Holmes, 87, of Kountze, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at Victory Temple in Beaumont with burial following inAntioch Cemetery in Buna under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. A native of Voth, she was a longtime resident of Kountze. Survivors include son, Keith Edward Smith; daughters, DorothyMay Goodman and husband Ricky of Lumberton, Jennifer Kay Woosley and husband David of Beaumont and Karen Griffin and husband William of Kountze; brother, Joel P. Swearingen of Lumberton; and 21 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Geraldine ‘Geri’ Maxfield, 86, of Silsbee were at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Maxfield passed away July 15, 2014 at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare. A native of San Angelo, Geri was a longtime resident of Silsbee. She worked as a store manager and was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs.Maxfield was preceded in death by her parents, William Monroe and Mabel Eva Johnson Lidell and husband William Albert Maxfield. Survivors include her son, Bobby Maxfield and wife Jennifer Beason of Town Bluff; daughters, Carol Van Pelt and husband Ronnie of Silsbee, Sharon Mullins and husband Rufus of Flynn and Cathy Smith of Silsbee; cousin, Elgene Perry and husband Don of Bryan; grandchildren Todd, Trey, Bobby, Clay, Kevin, Brandon, Ryan, Tara, Allison, Billy and Kristen and twenty one great grandchildren.

Mark Thomas “Tommy” Mc-Carty Sr., 55, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home. A native of Beaumont, he was an electrician who worked on offshore oil rigs. Clint Gray

Funeral services for Clint Anderson Gray, 38, of Silsbee were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Gray died July 9, 2014 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Silsbee, Clint worked as an operator for MeadWesvaco. He was a member of Freedom Fellowship Church in Silsbee. Clint is preceded in death by his father, John E Gray. Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Virginia Gray of Silsbee; daughters, Kaitlyn Gray, Isabella Gray and Gabriella Gray; step-children, Ashley and Brian; brother, Gregg Gray and wife Michele of Silsbee; sister, Audra Kirkendall and husband Roger of Buna; nephew Garrett Gray; nieces Jami, Jessica and Leanna and great niece Jaci.

Frances Langston

Frances Bevil Langston, 87, of Port Neches, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born in Silsbee on January 10, 1927, and graduated from Nederland High School in 1944. Frances then attended Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont, receiving her diploma as a Registered Nurse and earning an Associate Degree inApplied Sciences from Lamar College in 1947. Frances began her sixty-seven year career in nursing working as an office nurse for Lamar Bevil,MD, then as an assistant night supervisor in ER at Hotel Dieu, and then as head nurse in pediatrics. She began working for Nederland Independent School District in 1950 as a school nurse, retiring forty-four years later, in 1995. She also worked many summers at Hotel Dieu and St. Elizabeth Hospitals. After retirement, Frances volunteered her nursing services at St.Anthony Cathedral School and St.

Jessie Earl Cutwright, 58, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service will be at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at New Hope Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of J.B. Coleman Memorial Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Hickory Grove Cemetery, also in Silsbee. Viewing will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the church. A native and livelong resident of Silsbee, he worked as a laborer. Survivors include his wife, Pandora Cutwright of Port Arthur; godchild, April Barnes; mother, BessieMae Cutwright of Silsbee; brothers, Sidney Barnes and Ray Charles Cutwright, both of Silsbee, Elmore Cutwright Jr. and wife Ann of Kountze, Lester Cutwright and wife Deidra of Port Arthur, and Jerome Cutwright of SanAugustine; and sisters, Betty Faye Hudson of Huntsville, Sadie Jackson and husband Jerry of Silsbee, and Katie Sue Holman and husband John of San Augustine.
