Becky Tucker

Becky Tucker, 66, of Kountze, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014. A memorial service was held Friday, August 22 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jimmy Tucker; daughters, Kimberly Helen Tucker Cross and husband John of Kountze and Karen Kay Tucker Bartlett and husband Daniel of Port Neches; brothers, Gene Childress and Hugh Bishop and wife Paula, all of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Kay Vandevender and husband Steve of Nashville, Tennessee; and three grandchildren.

William Ewing Jr.

William Howard “Willie” Ewing Jr., 78, of Kountze, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. A graveside service was held Saturday, August 23 at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary, also in Kountze. A native and lifelong resident of Kountze, he retired with Drainage District 6 in Beaumont as an equipment operator. Survivors include son,Mike Ewing of Kountze; daughter, Amanda Marie EwingWright of Kountze; brother, Jimmy Ewing and wife Juanita of New Iberia, Louisiana; stepdaughters, Lavern Lamborn and husband David of Woodville and Nora Farias of Kountze; and four grandchildren.

Leo Burrows

Leo Burrows, 69, of Kountze, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 atMid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital in Nederland. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23 at the Greater Mt. Corinth Baptist Church in Kountze with burial following in Trinity Valley District Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Donald E. Coleman Funeral Home, also in Kountze. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Survivors include his son, Trenton Burrows of Beaumont; sisters, Pearlie Powell and husband Cloyd ofWarren and Lustine Burrows of Kountze; and two grandchildren.

Fred Pfleider

Fred Pfleider, 81, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Funeral service was Saturday, August 16 at First Baptist Church in Winnie under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. A native of Winnie, he was owner and operator of Pfleider’s Paint & Body Shop in Winnie for over 30 years. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Survivors include his daughters, Valerie Rogers and husband Randy of Round Rock, LynetteMiller and husband Tim of Lumberton and Brandy Viator and husband Travis of Winnie; sister, Martha Wrobleske and husband Ro of Galena Park; and three grandchildren.

Margaret Anne “Penny” Weeks, 74, of Beaumont, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at her home of liver cancer. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, August 20) at Forest LawnMemorial Park in Beaumont under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton. Survivors include daughters, Patti Owens and husband Stephen of Lumberton, Donna Corbello and husband Robert of Vidor, Adele Prichard of Sour Lake, and Angela Battenfield and husband Steven of Batson; son, RayWeeks Jr. of Beaumont; and 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Elgie Lynn McGallion, 54, of Kirbyville, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Christus Hospital in Jasper of cancer. He was a longtime resident of Dam B before moving to Kirbyville three years ago. He worked in construction for TY Metal. Jerry Lynn Byrd, 74, of Bronson, died Sunday,August 10, 2014 at his home. Anative of Saratoga, he was a longtime resident of Vidor before moving to Lake Sam Rayburn in 1998. He worked as a pre-planner at Dupont in Orange for 33 years. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Byrd of Bronson; son, Tracy Byrd and wife Michelle of Beaumont; daughter, Debbie Eitel and husband Lance Sr. of Bullard; brother, Everett Byrd and wife Lorraine of Vidor; sisters, Erma Fregia of Saratoga and Myrt Hudson and husband Frank of Vidor; and seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
