Hugh Means

Hugh BevilMeans, 83, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Funeral service was held Saturday, February 14 at Enon Baptist Church in Chester with burial following in Holland Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Anative of Saratoga, he was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was decorated with numerous medals including two Bronze stars during his tenure with the 865 AAA AWBN SP. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Means of Smithville; four stepchildren, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Willie O’Neal

Willie “Mr. Billie” O’Neal, 83, of Silsbee, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was Tuesday, February 17 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. A native of Dayton, he was a retired oilfield worker. Survivors include his son, James “Bugger” Freeman and wife, Cynthia of Kountze; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Betty Pixley

Betty Tanton Pixley, 67, of Vidor, died Friday, February 13, 2015. She was born on November 5, 1947, in Loeb, to Edith Schneider Tanton and William Jack Tanton, Sr. Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Dobbins and her husband, Lucky, of Silsbee and Joe Ann Zavala and her husband, Scott, of Vidor; and son, Donald M. Haynes of Vidor; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, William Jack Tanton, Jr. of Kountze; and sisters, Rachel of Fred, Elane Henderson of Lufkin, Janice McKeown of Silsbee, and Linda Smith of Vidor. She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Raymond David Haynes, Jr. Agathering ofMrs. Pixley’s family and friends was from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2015, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Broussard’s. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Bobby Taylor

Bobby L. Taylor, 79, of Wildwood, died Sunday, February 15, 2015. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 19 at Wilwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church in Village Mills under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. He was retired from the Internal Revenue Service and later retired from Fiserv as chief financial officer. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Taylor; daughter, Kathy Taylor Barrios and husband Michael of Orange; son, Mark Taylor of Snyder; sister, Ann Freeman and husband Phillip of Leesville, Louisiana; two step-children and six step-grandchildren.

Kenneth Edward Simmons Sr., 67, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He was a United States Army VietnamWar veteran. Survivors include son, Kenneth Simmons Jr. of Lumberton; daughter, Ann McCarthy and husband Ron of Big Rapids, Michigan; sisters, Susan Hill of Nashville, Tennessee and Jeanette Parker and husband Jim of Clanton, Alabama; and five grandchildren. No formal service was held.

Edgar “Ed” Guest Overmyer Jr. 69, of Kountze, died Sunday, February 8, 2015. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 12 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton with burial following in Hardin Memorial Park in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today (Wedneday, February 11) at the funeral home. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, he worked in the construction field. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Paula Overmyer of Kountze; daughters, Lisa Lahaye and husband Brian of Lumberton and Kerri Badger and husband Larry of Conroe; sons, Billy Marcontell and wife Kay of Thicket and Greg Overmyer and wife Cristy of The Woodlands; sister, Myra Hadley of Memphis, Tennessee; brother, George Overmyer and wife Jane of Kerrville; and nine grandchildren.

Anative of Ethelsville,Alabama, he had lived in this area for many years, with the last nine in Dam B. He was a retired construction worker and was a United States Marine Corp veteran. Survivors include daughter, Teresa Peden and huband Bobby of Silsbee; sons, Randy Sartor of Silsbee, John Sartor of Silsbee, John Sartor and wife Teresa of Nederland, Dewey Hoke of Vidor and Butch Biershback of Lumberton, Mississippi; sisters, Merline Cowart of Alabama, Joyce Dans of Buna and Carolyn Hoke of Vidor; and 21 grandchildren and 26 greatgrandchildren.
