Casey Simmons Sr.

Casey Boyett Simmons Sr., 58, of Vidor, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at his home after a battle with cancer. Funeral service was at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 10) at Turning Point Church in Vidor with burial in Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lumberton Funeral Home in Lumberton. Anative of Beaumont and a lifetime resident of Vidor, he was an automotive paint and body man.Survivors include daughter,  Misty Warren of Vidor; sons, Casey Simmons Jr. and wife Melony and Tray Brown and wife Dallis, all of Vidor; sisters, Betty Haynes, Bobbie Johnson, Carol Williams and husband Charles and Sandra Rao, all of Lumberton and Alice Rachford of Vidor; brothers, Curtis Simmons and Calvin Simmons, both ofAlto and Colven Simmons and Cecil Simmons, both ofVidor; and ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Laura Guillory

Laura Guillory, 72, of Rye, died Friday, August 22, 2014. Funeral service was Tuesday, August 26 at LumbertonFamily Funeral Home.  Survivors include daughters, Peggy Guillory and husband Jeff of Lumberton and Tina Tate and husband Clint of Walker, Louisiana; sons, Larry Guillory and wife Jeanette of Fred, Dennis Guillory and wife Kim of Lakeview and Phillip Guillory and wife Daisy of Rye; sisters, Nancy Sims of Lumberton and Shirley Johnson of Magnolia; brother, Harry Sponsler of Elkhart; and 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Myrtis Skinner

Myrtis Skinner was born on November 24, 1921 to Ernest L. Skinner and Bertie Loving Skinner. He passed away September 1, 2014 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cecil, Otto, and Leon; and sister, Gladys. Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Thomas; sons, Ralph Skinner and Ricky Skinner; step-son, Dewayne Anderson; his grandchildren, Leah Thomas, David Thomas and William Tyson and step-granddaughters, LeEllen “Sissy” Roberts and Amanda Lowe. Mr. Skinner served in combat duringWorldWar II in the crew of a B24 bomber and worked many years for Chicago Bridge & Iron, retiring as an x-ray technician. He was a 67-year member of the Broaddus #1112 and Silsbee #927 Masonic Lodges. A memorial service will be held at Farmer Funeral Home at 1:00 pm, Thursday September 4, 2014 with a private burial.

Bobbie Fields

Funeral services for Bobbie Caraway Fields, 93, of Silsbee were at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home, also in Silsbee. Visitation was at the church from 8:30 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Fields passed away August 28, 2014 at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare. A native of Tyler County, Bobbie was a lifelong resident of Silsbee. She worked as a secretary before retiring. Mrs. Fields is a long time member of the First Pentecostal Church.Mrs. Fields is preceded in death by her parents Robert  Benjamin and Gertrude Gore Caraway, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include her son, Frank M Ryan of Silsbee; grandchildren Phyllis Hicks of New Richmond OH and Patrick M. Ryan of Fred; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at thechurch.  Mr. Payne passed awayAugust31, 2014 at his residence.  Steven was born July 31, 1956 in Kountze and he was a lifelong resident of southeast Texas. He was a welder with Bechtel. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Davis and Julia Faye Drake Payne.

‘Gene’ Reeves

Funeral services for Eugene ‘Gene’Arnold Reeves, 70, of Ore City and formerly of Silsbee, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Cunningham Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Reeves passed away September 2, 2014 in Ore City, surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born July 27, 1944 in Silsbee. He was a lifelong truck driver in the East Texas area, mostly hauling pulpwood until he retired. Mr. Reeves is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Lettie Mae Reeves. Survivors include his wife, Ann; sons, Calvin Reeves and wife Sherry of Joaquin, Tony Reeves and wife Kayla of Ore City,Michael Reeves and wife Sandy of Ore City, and Kenny Reeves and wife Kristy of Harmony; daughter, Darla Lawson and husband Bo of Lake Marvaul, Texas; and step-son, Derrick Rash.

Jo Owens

Jo Owens (Buttons Flanakin) 62, of Round Rock, TX died Thursday evening August 14, 2014 in her home after a very long fight against cancer. She was in hospice care for 3 months prior to her death. She leaves her husband, Noland Owens of Round Rock, TX; two daughters and their husbands, Heather Steinkuehler and husband Chris of Victoria, TX andAngelia Hope Paffe and husband Dan of Georgetown TX.; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister, Leighann Arinderle and a brother, Jerry Jones, both of Silsbee, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Ennis (G.E.) Flanakin and Ouida Mae Flanakin, both of Silsbee. She was born on October 29, 1951 in Silsbee, TX where her father, G.E. was in the logging business for many years. She was very active in her community and always loved doing volunteer work in and around town. She was a high school cheerleader and class queen.

Larry Gene Jenkins, 63, of Silsbee, died Sunday, August 24, 2014. He was born on November 17, 1950, in Silsbee, to Bobbie Jean Humble Jenkins and Harry Lee Jenkins. Survivors include his wife, Paula Hooks Jenkins; children, Shane Jenkins and his wife, Jennifer; Amy Jenkins; Heath Jenkins; and Hyrum Jenkins, all of Silsbee; grandchildren, Colby Jenkins, Austin Jenkins, Dakota Jenkins, and Jermarous Jenkins; sisters, Lana Jenkins of Silsbee; Janet Bourlon of Nacogdoches; and Pam Adams and Nancy McDonald and her husband, Corky, all of Silsbee; brothers, Daniel Jenkins and his wife, Belinda, of Vidor; and Jerry Jenkins and his wife, Judy and Bobby Jenkins, all of Silsbee; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Presley Jenkins; brothers, Harry Dwain Jenkins and Terry Jenkins, Sr.; and sister, Barbara Jean Jenkins. A gathering of Larry’s family and friends was from 5:00 p.m.
