Silsbee area playoff begins tonight

Silsbee baseball begins its area playoff series tonight against Navasota in Humble.

The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.

Silsbee (15-8) defeated Tarkington in two straight games to advance to the area round.

Navasota (18-8-1) defeated Houston Wheatley 15-0 in a one-game playoff to advance and face Silsbee.

The Rattlers finished the regular season in second place in Dist. 21-4A behind Bellville.

The series continues tomorrow night at Humble High School at 7 p.m. If a third game is needed, it will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the same facility.

EHS pitchers dominate Iola

The Evadale Rebels blanked Iola with back to back shut-out games in the bidistrict round of the playoffs. The three game series was scheduled for Texas Slam field in Livingston. On Friday, junior Daniel Bean was on the mound and he threw a no-hitter against the Bulldogs.

Silsbee sweeps Tarkington with great pitching

The Silsbee Tigers needed all the pitching and defense it could get to sweep the Tarkington Longhorns in a 4A bidistrict playoff series. Silsbee (15-8) gave up one run in two games, and entered the second game of a best-of-3 series after a 1-0 shutout in a game held in Tomball.

Silsbee baseball set for bidistrict series

The Silsbee Tigers are set to play Cleveland Tarkington in a best-of-3 series beginning on Friday.

The 4A bidistrict series will begin on Friday at Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball at 7:30 p.m.

The series will move to Jasper on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m., with a third game to follow if necessary.

Silsbee (13-8) captured a co-district championship alongside Bridge City after the two teams split in Dist. 24-4A play. Silsbee won a coin toss to get the no. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Tarkington (10-15) finished in fourth place in Dist. 23-4A after winning a three-game playoff for fourth with Shepherd and Coldspring-Oakhurst.

Silsbee softball girls fall in bidistrict round of playoffs

The Silsbee Lady Tigers’ season came to abrupt end after falling to Splendora in two straight games in the bidistrict round of the playoffs. Silsbee (20-8) finished in second place in Dist. 24-4A after earning its 20th win of the season.

Silsbee wins coin flip for no. 1 seed in 24-4A

The Silsbee Tigers were in a bit of a pickle after falling to Hardin-Jefferson early last week in an unusual run-rule game. But as fast as things fell apart, the Tigers never looked back at the loss and pulled out a 5-2 win over West Orange- Stark on Friday to help its cause.
