Silsbee run-game bulldozes over Huffman-Hargrave

It was a night for records in Silsbee on Friday with the visiting Huffman-Hargrave Falcons as the prime target. After coming off of a heartbreaking loss to Bridge City a week ago, Silsbee was looking to rebound in its playoff form. The heat of the loss was enough to spark the Tigers run-game behind bruising senior running back Calvin Tyler.

Silsbee volleyball earns top spot in 22-4A

Lady Tigers will face Shepherd in first round on Tuesday

The Silsbee Lady Tigers earned the no. 1 seed in District 22-4A after a 3-1 match win over Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday in a tie-breaker game held in Buna.

Silsbee (34-4, 10-1 in District 22-4A) will head to the 4A playoffs and face Shepherd in a bidistrict match to be held at West Hardin High School on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.

No. 12 ranked Silsbee was looking to go unbeaten in the league standings however fell to Little Cypress-Mauriceville 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-9) on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the final district game of the season to end the regular season as co-district champions.

Silsbee CC off to regionals

Silsbee Tigers cross country is headed to the regional meet on Saturday.

The varsity boys placed six runners in the top 15 to secure a second place finish at the District 22-4A meet held at Claiborne Park in Vidor on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The Region III meet for 4A runners will be held at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Bryson Jones led the Tigers with a third place finish, Drayton Rosas finished eighth, Holden Cravy finished 10th, Will Fontaine finished 13th, David Wright finished 14th, Trevor Jones finished 15th, and Nicolas Lahaye finished 23rd.

In the varsity girls division, the Lady Tigers placed fifth overall.

Gracie Gilchriest finished 17th, Kaneisha Bryson finished 19th, Tre'anna Vaughn finished 21st, Ashlyn Martin finished 25th, Carly Stanley finished 26th, and Zoei Battle finished 27th.

Evadale bites the Bulldogs on the way to 83-22 victory

The Evadale Rebels fell behind early on homecoming night on Saturday in Evadale and then responded with 83 points to claim an 83-22 victory over Colmesneil. Colmesneil came into the game without a win but scored the first TD of the game. Then they converted the two-point conversion. Evadale followed by driving down and scoring when Paxton Bryant caught a 35-yard pass from Tyler Torres.

Beaumont Central squeaks past Lumberton 35-34

Lumberton suffered a heartbreaking 35-34 loss to Beaumont Central on Friday, dropping the Raiders to eighth place in Dist. 22-5A. Lumberton (2-5, 1-5) trailed 35-28 near the end of the fourth quarter and drove 53 yards to score on a 2-yard buck from Brett Marcentel to pull within one point 35-34. The Raiders attempted a two-point conversion with under a minute remaining in the game and fell short of the win .

Silsbee volleyball sitting pretty in first place

The Silsbee Lady Tigers are taking no prisoners as the team continues to cruise in Dist. 22-4A as the leaders in the pack. Silsbee (31-3, 7-0) tormented Bridge City as its latest victim on Friday, to remain unbeaten in the league standings. “The most important thing I told the team about today’s game was to come out and have some fun,” Head Coach Bridgett Hicks said after the win on Friday. “But I also told them that we needed to sweep in three.” The Lady Tigers responded with a vengeance, never allowing the Lady Cardinals to get into the game with a 3-0 sweep 25-16, 25-14, 25-13.

Silsbee defense defangs Navasota rushing game

The Silsbee Tigers are making a definite statement when it comes to defense. For the second consecutive game, defense came through when it counted, preventing the Navasota Rattlers to finish off long drives before prevailing in a 35-14 win at Tiger Stadium. Silsbee (4-3, 2-0 in Dist. 10- 4A-DI) celebrated the win momentarily, however it gets back to work ready for Bridge City (4-2, 2-0) on Friday as the two remaining unbeaten teams in the district.

Lions fall to Buna 28-13, Friday

The Buna Cougars hosted Kountze on Friday and claimed a 28-13 victory over the Lions. Buna took the ball after the opening kick off and promptly drove 75 yards for a touchdown. The score came on a 2- yard run by Matthew Martin.The two-point conversion was  no good but the Cougars had the lead 6-0.
