Silsbee Head CoachMichael Nelson shares Coach of the Year honors

Ethan Dunn, a freshman on the Silsbee High School baseball team was selected as the Newcomer of the Year in District 24-4A. The stocky freshman had 71 official at bats and came away with 24 hits. They included 22 singles and two doubles. He had five RBI's and scored 14 runs.

Soon to be 90-years-young Silsbee man continues to stay active with tennis pals

When Eldon Reed of Silsbee began playing softball in his early 20’s, is was a sign that athleticism would keep the vibrant man a healthy lifestyle for years to come. As he gets set to turn 90-years-young on Saturday, Reed doesn’t look a day over 70 because of staying fit by continuing to play sports.

Evadale track and field competitors earn academic all state honors

The Texas Track and Field Coaches Association has amed a number of Evadale athletes as academic all-state erformers. The group includes seniors, ogan Hare, Matthew Meyers, Ryan Totten, and Hunter bate. The juniors on the list includeAdam Hawthorne,Morgan Black, and Tyler Beavers. Casey Black is the only sophomore on the squad and Coy Williams is the only freshman.

EHS baseball, softball players named to all-district list

There were 13 Evadale baseball players that landed all-district honors for 25-2A. reshman Tyler Torres was named defensive player of the year as the only to make the superlatives list of the district. First team players named ere sophomore pitcher Daniel Bean, senior infielder Colby Thompson, and senior outfielder Logan Hare. Those named to the second team were senior infielder Brenden Burford, freshman infielder Cade Flowers, freshman outfielder CoyWilliams, freshman outfielder Paxton Bryan, and senior utility layer TommyWells.

Six Kountze boys honored on all district baseball team

Chad Young, senior shortstop at Kountze High School was selected as the defensive MVP by coaches in District 23-3A recently. The outstanding defensive player had only four errors and six double plays during
the 14 game district season.

Kountze speeder is second in 100 meter dash at state track meet

Grayland Arnold of Kountze placed second in the state track meet in the 100- meter dash with his career best 10.71. The race which was auto timed beat his previous best time of 10.75. The performance capped a
year when he was anAll State Basketball player, and a Super Gold selection at point guard for the Kountze Lions.

Evadale season ends in 12 inning game

The Evadale Rebels concluded their baseball season falling to Weimar in the area round of the playoffs at Galveston Ball High School last Saturday afternoon, falling to the Wildcats 3-2 in a 12-inning affair.
Evadale had chances to win on a couple of occasions before giving up a walk-off single that scored a run in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Evadale is only team in area to claim opening Bi-district round win

Sometimes in baseball, games become pitchers duels with no one seemingly able to get a hit. For Evadale in a doubleheader against Iola on Friday, that was definitely not the case as the Rebels had 20 hits in a 2-game sweep of the 2Ab idistrict series in Willis.

Opening game melt-down dooms Tigers

The Silsbee Tigers played their bidistrict round of the playoffs with a lineup that included four freshman, four sophomores and a junior. The Tigers had their chances but eventually lost the best-of-three series 2-1.
