Tigers win thriller on last play at the last second

It was the battle of all battles for the Silsbee Tigers on Friday. Facing one of the toughest running back tandems in the state was the icing on the cake for Silsbee’s defense heading into the class 4A, Division I regional round against El Campo.

Silsbee receivers Kalon Barnes and Tre Lowe celebrate after Lowe scored on a 62-yard pass in the fourth quarter that tied the game against El Campo in the class 4A regional round in Conroe on Friday. The Tigers won 43-42 in dramatic fashion to advance to the Region III class 4A Division I finals on Friday against Carthage in Tyler. The game will be held at Rose Stadium slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Seven SHS girls earn volleyball all-district honors in 2015

Seven Silsbee Lady Tigers volleyball members earned Dist. 24-4A honors in a list that was released last week. Senior Keleigh Trabing was named Outstanding Outside Hitter, senior Mariah Waters was named Outstanding Setter, and junior Symone Carmenar was named Outstanding Middle Blocker.

Silsbee thwarts Sealy in area win

The Silsbee Tigers entered Friday’s area playoff game with a chip on its shoulder, and rightfully so with its potent offense. Having averaged over 58 points in its last five consecutive wins, it was no secret that the Tigers would score any chance it had.

Raiders fall to Crosby 42-14

The Lumberton Raiders football season ended Friday when they met Crosby which has one of the top rated 5A squads in the state. The Raiders fell behind 21- 0 in the first quarter when Craig Williams scored two touchdowns for Crosby and Trevian Edwards caught a pass for 32 yards for a touchdown.

Rebels feast on Sharks

The Evadale Rebels had already insured their playoff position as the districts third place team with last week’s victory over Burkeville, so all that remained to be due on Friday against the Sabine Pas Sharks was to pick up their third district win.

There was no doubt that Silsbee and Jasper entered Friday’s district finale amped. As the season progressed, it was evident that this game would be one for the record books.

Explosive Tigers topple Bridge City 62-42

All the hype and trash-talking lived up to its name in Friday’s district clash between Silsbee and Bridge City. The Cardinals have been reeling after a stellar season under new head coach Dwayne DuBois, however, Silsbee was more than motivated with a visit from Baylor Head Coach Art Briles.
