Silsbee defense defangs Navasota rushing game

The Silsbee Tigers are making a definite statement when it comes to defense. For the second consecutive game, defense came through when it counted, preventing the Navasota Rattlers to finish off long drives before prevailing in a 35-14 win at Tiger Stadium. Silsbee (4-3, 2-0 in Dist. 10- 4A-DI) celebrated the win momentarily, however it gets back to work ready for Bridge City (4-2, 2-0) on Friday as the two remaining unbeaten teams in the district.

Lions fall to Buna 28-13, Friday

The Buna Cougars hosted Kountze on Friday and claimed a 28-13 victory over the Lions. Buna took the ball after the opening kick off and promptly drove 75 yards for a touchdown. The score came on a 2- yard run by Matthew Martin.The two-point conversion was  no good but the Cougars had the lead 6-0.

Lions struggle against Trinity

The Kountze Lions saw their record fall to 2-4 when they were defeated by the Trinity Tigers 33-14 on homecoming night. Neither team scored in the first quarter and then Trinity broke onto the scoreboard with a 75-yard touchdown run with 9:55 left in the first half.

Tigers torment Shadow Creek Sharks 60-21

The Silsbee Tigers got the offensive showing it had been wanting to highlight on Friday, and the Alvin Shadow Creek Sharks suffered the onslaught. Silsbee scored at will in the first quarter taking a 28-0 lead on all four of its possessions en route to a 60-21 rout game on Friday hosting Little Cypress-Mauriceville at Tiger Stadium.

Orangefield next for Lady Tigers

The Silsbee Lady Tigers made a statement in non-district play and now continue to do the same as District 22-4A play rolls into action.

Silsbee (25-3) cruised past Bridge City on Tuesday for its second consecutive 22-4A win.

Silsbee defeated the Lady Cardinals in a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-16, 25-18).

District play continues today when Silsbee takes on Orangefield at Tiger Gym beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Tigers are 21-1 since early August with its last loss to 6A Beaumont West Brook in the YMBL Tournament on Sept. 10.

The Silsbee Tigers took a blow to the chin on Friday after a lowly performance against the state’s no. 1 ranked team in class 4A Division II. The reigning 4A Division II state champion West Orange-
Stark Mustangs gave up four turnovers in the game on Friday, however Silsbee was unable to capitalize on the take-aways and suffered a 51- 2 loss at Dan R. Hooks Stadium.

Silsbee opens district with big win

Lady Tigers continue to roll

The Silsbee Lady Tigers aren’t lacking in exciting games this season after an opening thriller at home against West Orange-Stark on Tuesday.

Silsbee (24-3, 1-0 in Dist. 24-4A) has had its share of thrillers, but Tuesday nights match was the best-of-the-best after downing the district rival.

Silsbee and West Orange-Stark battled point-for-point, but the Lady Tigers outlasted the Lady Mustangs in the deciding fifth set for a 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 21-25, 15-4) win.

It was the second win for the Silsbee Lady Tigers that needed five sets in one week’s time.
