The Silsbee Lady Tigers had a record of 21-9 overall and 7-1 in district play prior to the teams game against Orangefield on Tuesday. A win in that game or any other of the Tigers three remaining games will ensure them of a spot in the playoffs.

The Silsbee Tigers have run their record this season to 19- 5 and 6-0 in district play. The team has suffered one loss to a 4A opponent this season and that was in the Whataburger Classic to Abilene Wylie. The other four losses were to 5A and 6A opponents.

The Kountze Lions were banking on an unbeaten District 23-3A season, but the nemesis of Buna continues to haunt. Kountze (15-8, 4-1 in 23-3A) wasn’t expecting to fall to the Cougars, but lasting memories of a year prior were brought back last week.

The Silsbee Tigers rained in shots from long range as they hit for 18 three-point baskets and defeated the Jasper Bulldogs 126-72 on Friday. The Tigers, who probably have their best outside shooting team of the past 20 years, poured in 38 points in the third quarter alone.

Baseball season is right around the corner and Bruce Williams, a board member for the Texas High School Sports Association reports that they need baseball officials. He says the average age of a baseball official in Southeast Texas is 59 and the group is running out of bodies.

The Silsbee Lady Tigers enter the heart of district play with a 3-0 record in district and an impressive 17-8 record this season. The team has struggled in recent years but suddenly this year the team has seemed to wake up from a long sleep.
