Tigers win Championship of Whataburger tournment

The Silsbee Tigers played in three tournaments this year. First they battled in the Coca Cola Classic in Huntington where they made their way to the finals before losing to an unbeaten 5A Marshal squad. Then they travelled to DeRidder, La., where they lost in the finals to the host squad from DeRidder.

Cardinals Top Owls in OT

BEAUMONT, Texas – Six players scored in double figures as the Lamar Cardinals pushed their win streak to three and remain undefeated at home this season after beating Rice (3-7), 79-72, in an overtime thriller Monday night at the Montagne Center. The victory gives Lamar one more win than it had all of last season, and only two wins shy of its win total from the previous two years.

Kountze football players earn all district honors in 12-AAA Division 1

The District 12-3A D-I all district selections were announced recently. Dylan Silcox, a junior, from East Chambers, was the District-MVP. GraylandArnold, a junior, from Kountze, was the Offensive MVP and Corey Cauley, a senior, from Kirbyville, was the defensive MVP.

Freshman lead JV team in 58-40 loss to Lufkin, Tuesday

The Silsbee JV team dropped a 58-40 game against Lufkin on Tuesday. The Tigers fell behind 12-10 in the first quarter and trailed 26-22 at the half. Adonis Thomas, a freshman, scored 10 of the Tigers first half points. He had five in each of the first two quarters. Tre’ Lowe, another freshman, added seven in the first half.

Tigers fall to bigger Lufkin squad

The Silsbee Tigers played Lufkin on Tuesday and dropped a 59-52 decision. Silsbee had a 30-24 lead at the half, and built that lead to nine points early in the third period before going completely cold from the field. Lufkin applied heavy defensive pressure on the Tigers and outscored them 35-22 in the second half.

Kountze girls play in Silsbee tournament

The Kountze Lady Lions played in the KimAlbers tournament in Silsbee this past weekend and dropped four straight games. They opened the tournament against a tough C.E. King squad that was favored to be one of the top teams in the tournament.

Lady Raiders win Kim Albers Tourney

The Lumberton Lady Raiders romped and stomped their way to the championship of the Silsbee, “Kim Albers” tournament last week. During most of the tournament, The Raiders dominated play with their shooting from long range.MeganWorry who was off the charts while shooting from long range, was the MVP of the tournament.

Rebels finish third in Rebel Classic

Evadale opened the season undefeated through their first five games and it took a 4A team to knock them from the ranks of the unbeaten. Coach Keith Talbert has a roster full of weapons and they opened the week hosting Starks from Louisiana. Five different Rebels were in double figures for the game.

Silsbee Tigers fall to top ranked Jaguars, 96-54

The Silsbee Tigers traveled to Beaumont Central on Wednesday to battle the no. 1 ranked 5Ateam in the state on their home court. The young Tiger team discovered quickly why Central was so highly regarded in statewide circles. The Jaguars have a nucleus of outstanding players. Their 6-6 center E’Torrian Wilridge is one of the top prospects in Southeast Texas.

Rebels open season with convincing victory

The Evadale Rebels had only one week to shift gears from football to basketball, but from the outcome of their first game, it looks as though the Rebels are speed shifters. The Rebels hosted the Deweyville Pirates but all the treasure belonged to the Rebels who defeated the Pirates 72-54.
