Former Silsbee youth to tee it up in US Open

As a child, Anthony Broussard started learning the sport of golf at the Silsbee Country Club while playing with his dad. Kelly would take his son to the course, and the pair would start on hole no. 1. Anthony was playing with some cut off clubs. They would play the first four holes, which would put them back at the club house, and then they would call it a day – It was a start.

District 21-AAA All District Baseball Team

the OffensiveMVP and Brayden Griffin was named as the district 21-3A Pitcher of the Year. Coaches announced the 21-3A All-District baseball team this week after Silsbee dropped its game in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

Two ink letters to play hoops

The Silsbee Tigers basketball team had two players who signed letters of intent to play basketball in north Texas. The two teammates from high school will now find themselves on opposing benches. Chris Elam will be playing at CedarValley Community College and Jalen Hardaway will be playing at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch. Both schools are near Dallas.

Dream ends with loss to College Station in the state quarterfinals

The Silsbee Tigers baseball season ended Thursday when they dropped a 9-1 decision to College Station, which is the top ranked 3A this year. The game was much closer than the final score indicated throughout much of the contest.

Powell to play at Panalo College

Sometimes things do not work out like you hope and plan, but those who have true character not only survive but prevail. Those words are certainly true for Silsbee pitcher Tyler Powell who signed a letter of intent on Tuesday to attend Panola College.

Tigers sting Caldwell in regional semis

Propelled by a dominating performance at the plate, the Silsbee Tigers took no prisoners in its quest for another state tournament appearance. Now with Silsbee up against a team that defeated Carthage in the regional quarterfinals, Caldwell was faced with the dubious task of dethroning the reigning Region III champion from 2013.

Eleven members of KHS baseball team honored as all district players

The young Kountze Lions baseball team dominated the selections for the District 25-2A baseball all district team. Ethan Franklin, a junior who is both an outstanding pitcher and an impressive player at the plate was the District MVP.

SHS All District Softball Players

The Silsbee Lady Tigers had two players, Katlin Kerl and Bailey Root, named to the first team of the 21-3A all district softball team. Kerl, a junior, is the Tigers catcher and Root, a sophomore, is the teams designated hitter. The squad also had two girls on the second unit of the all district squad. Lauren Gilbert, a junior, was an all district infielder. Kaitlyn Hicks, a sophomore, was a second unit all district outfielder.

KHS Lions season ends with close loss to Luling

The Kountze Lions dropped a best of three playoff series to Luling on Friday and Saturday that knocked the Lions out of the playoffs. Kountze dropped the first game by an 8-5 score. This game was disappointing because the Lions led the contest 4-3 as the two teams entered the final inning of play.
