A Hardin County man was severely injured after being run over by a vehicle driven by his girlfriend on the evening of Nov. 6, at a location off of Old Spurger Highway.
Reports state that the victim, Ernest Hutto, 47 and his girlfriend, Patricia Wilson, 46, were arguing when Wilson decided to leave the residence. While backing her vehicle to leave, she backed over Hutto.
Upon arrival at the residence, Hardin County Deputies noted that both Hutto and Wilson were under the influence of alcohol.
Wilson told deputies at the scene that she did not realize she had run over Hutto until others near the scene began yelling at her to stop the vehicle. She also stated that it was accidental.
In his statement to deputies, Hutto also said that the incident was unintentional.
First reports at the scene were that Hutto was unable to move his lower extremities. He was transported by helicopter to a Beaumont hospital for treatment.
Wilson was transported to a Beaumont hospital for a blood test to determine her blood alcohol content (BAC), after which she was then transported to the Hardin County Jail and booked on charges of intoxication assault. She has since bonded out.
The case will now be forwarded to the Hardin County District Attorney’s Office for review.
At the time of this interview, Hardin County Sheriff Ed Cain stated that he had not received any updated information regarding Hutto’s condition. |
