“LUG NUT”

Gerald “Lug Nut” Thomas Busby, 52, of Kirbyville died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 after a long battle with lung cancer.

An old-time burial was held at Trout Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Ronda Busby; daughters, Shana Hopson and husband Michael and Jessica Busby; son, Jeremy Busby; parents, Thomas and Lynell Busby; sisters, Glenda Trotter and husband Jim and Deborah Gott; granddaughter, Hallie Tarver; grandson, Michael Hopson, Jr.; niece, Kendra Piazza; and two nephews.

DERRICK WAYNE LOTT

Derrick Wayne Lott, 30, of Trout Creek died Friday, December 11, 2009.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 13 at Adams E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery.

A native of Kirbyville, he was a lifelong resident of Old Salem.

Survivors include his wife, Kyndra Lott; son, Jayce Anthony; daughters, Hope Lott, Faith Creel and Kayley Lott, all of Trout Creek; parents, Cindy Lott and Carlos Patillo of Old Salem and Vernon Lott and wife Donna of Merryville, Louisiana; brother, Jonathan Lott of Merryville, Louisiana; sister, Ashley Lott of Kirbyville; grandparents, Billy and Louise Nichols of Old Salem  and  Bobby R. Lott of Merryville, Louisiana; and great-grandmother, Nadine Whitten of Old Salem.

MERDIE WHITEHEAD MORGAN

Merdie Whitehead Morgan, 92, of Jasper died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.  today, Wednesday, December 16 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with burial at Zion Hill Cemetery. 

A native and lifelong resident of Jasper, she was a founding member of Faithway Missionary Baptist Church in Erin.  She served several years as a Secretary with the Jasper Nutrition Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Cleo Morgan; and son, Edward C. Morgan.

Survivors include her sons, James Earl Morgan of Anahuac, Charles R. Morgan of Livingston and Henry Morgan, Sr. of Kirbyville; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
