DORETHA HARRIS BENNETT

Doretha Harris Bennett, 76, of Call died Saturday, December 20, 2008.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 27 at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville under the direction of Coleman’s Mortuary with burial at the Call Community Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons, Millard Bennett, Darwin Bennett and Donald Rawls, all of Call, Alvin Bennett and Melvin Bennett, both of Bon Wier, Chester Bennett of Friendswood and Marvin Bennett and Perry Bennett, both of Clear Lake; daughters, Linda Greanleaf of Houston, Tonja Stockman of Kirbyville and Suritha Guidry and Trudie McGarthy, both of Katy; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

CHARLES BURKETT

Charles Burkett, 70, of Kirbyville died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 26 at First United Methodist Church in Kirbyville under the direction of Adams E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery.

A native of Hemphill, he had lived in Kirbyville 25 years and was a retired school teacher having taught at Newton, Jasper, Kirbyville, Clute and Lake Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Bee Burkett of Kirbyville; son, Stephen Sutton of Newton; daughters, Melissa Burkett and Sarah Barbabosa, both of Houston; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lakes Area Hospice, P.O. Box 2085, Jasper, Texas 75951; United Methodist Church, 105 West Main, Kirbyville, Texas 75956; or a charity of your choice.

WILLIAM “JACK” HENRY KOCH SR.

William “Jack” Henry Koch Sr., 79, of Kirbyville, died Saturday, December 27, 2008.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 30 at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville under the direction of Adams E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial at Davis Cemetery.

He was raised in Beaumont and served in the US Army. He married his wife, Erma Alice Rives Koch on November 23, 1950 and they made their home in Vidor. He worked 27 years as Vice President of Bo-Mac Contractors, then retired in 1993 to Kirbyville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, golf cart rides and spending time with his family. He was a big fan of Wildcat sports and could be seen at most every game with his family. His most prized possessions were his wonderful wife Erma, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Erma; children, William Koch Jr. of Beaumont, Randy Koch of Vidor, Ted Koch of League City, Karla Koch Biasiolli of Sugar Land and Tana Koch Rhodes of Kirbyville; and grandchildren, Randall Koch, Juston Koch, William Koch III, Jessica Koch, Allison Long, Taylor Koch and Blaine Rhodes.

If desired, donations in his honor may be made to the Diabetic Foundation or the American Heart Association.
