CAMILLE HENDRICKS “GRANNY” MINTON
Camille Hendricks “Granny” Minton, 92, of Longview died Wednesday, January 28, 2009.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 31 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Many, Louisiana.
She was born in Fisher, Louisiana on September 25, 1916 to Robert Sidney and Leatha Alford Hendricks. She received her education at Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana and her Master’s from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Mrs. Minton was a dedicated school teacher for 42 years, teaching in Alliance, Louisiana, Mt. Hermon and Bleakwood. After retiring, she traveled the world extensively and enjoyed the company of her beloved dog, Cricket.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James A. Minton Sr. and a sister, Mildred Vickers.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James A. Minton Jr. and Brenda of Longview; granddaughter, Lucinda Minton of Longview; and several nieces.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret’s House, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, Texas 75608 in memory of Camille H. Minton.
GLENDA SORRELL BLANCHARD
Glenda Sorrell Blanchard, 68, of Nederland died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 25 at Broussard’s in Nederland with entombment at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Glenda was born in Port Arthur and lived most of her life in Nederland. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. O. Blanchard; sister, Willette Johnson; and brother, Bobby Sorrell.
Survivors include her daughter, Susie Denmon and husband Darrell of Orange; son, Craig Blanchard and wife Tammy of Jasper; step-children, Judy Biscamp and husband Gene of Roganville, Wayne Blanchard and Robby Blanchard, both of Hemphill; brother, G.H. Sorrell Jr. and wife Sandra of Friendswood; sisters, Martha Sorrell of Nederland, Wilda Brunson and husband James of Spring, Wilma McGuffee and husband Slagle of Jena, Louisiana, Trudy Wright and husband Ted of Livingston and Sandra Broussard and husband Glenn of Nederland; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
