AVERIAL FANNING

Averial Fanning, 73, of Kirbyville died Monday, December 29, 2008 at her residence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 31 at Adams E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery.

A native of Fannett, she had lived in Kirbyville 27 years.

Survivors include her sons, Chris Fanning and Kevin Fanning, both of Kirbyville; brothers, Rodney Harvey of Kirbyville and Kevin Harvey of Jasper; sister, Dorothy Pittman of Kirbyville; eight grandchildren; and great-grandchild.


HATTIE HOOKS MASELLI

Hattie Hooks Maselli, 99, died Monday, December 29, 2008 at Palestine Regional Hospital in Palestine.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, 2009 in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.

Hattie was a native of Roganville and lived the majority of her life in Bleakwood. She lived in Port Arthur 15 years before returning to Kirbyville to live the rest of her life. She was a seamstress for many years and made many quilts during her lifetime. As a young lady she sang in a church quartet with her brothers. She will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and great-great-great-grandmother who loved her family and was always there for whatever their needs may have been. Hattie was especially thankful for the care she received in her latter years by her granddaughter and grandson-in-law Judy and Bobby Joe Hutchison.

Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Jo Williams-Housman of Newton; sisters, Mary Hooks Mondello of Oklahoma, Susie Hooks Broussard of Port Arthur and Finetta Hooks Cochran of Kirbyville; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 37 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony Maselli; son, Richard Williams; five brothers; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

She will be especially missed by her four-legged canine companion Star.


JOANNA JACKSON

Joanna Jackson, 67, of Kirbyville died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Buna under the direction of Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, she was a former resident of High Island and had lived in Kirbyville three years.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Jackson of Kirbyville; sons, Robert Jackson of Dekalb, Christopher Haman of Texarkana and Brian Haman of Kirbyville; daughters, Joerita Davis of Hope, Arkansas and Gail Driscoll and Darla Hebert, both of Texarkana; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
