The Kountze Lions evened their record at 1-1 Friday with an impressive 35-21 win over the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats.

Justin Harper completed 4 of 6 passes for 195 yards and Grayland Arnold completed 3 of 7 for 146 yards.
JJ Edwards was the top receiver. He caught two passes for 137 yards. One was an 88 yard TD pass from Arnold and the other was a 49-yard touchdown pass from Justin Harper.
In addition to throwing the ball for 146 yards, Arnold was able to catch two passes for 106 yards. One of the receptions was for a touchdown.

The Lions also managed to pick up 98 yards rushing. Jovante Powell had five carries for 50 yards and rushing touchdown, and Joshua Warren had eight for 48.
Defensively, the Lions were led by three men. Jaydon Cunigan, Shaquille Warren and Kyler Bumstead.

Warren was in on 18 tackles.
Bumstead had 16 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Rowdy Teel also had a good night with an interception.
Last week the Lions lost to Shepherd by a 2-0 score. This week Shepherd defeated Woodville to remain undefeated. The win over Woodville reinforced the thoughts of Kountze coaches that Shepherd was a very strong team.
This week the Lions will travel to Trinity for a game against a big fast team that is also 2-0 to start the year.
