Sally Jewell Sherrod of Wildwood, Texas went to be with her Lord on February 10, 2010. Sally was born February 11, 1939 accompanied by an identical twin, Sara Jewellw Johnson. Theye were born in Nashville, Arkansas to Verna Walden Tribble and James L. Jewell.
She is pre-deceased by her parents and her step-father, Ray Tribble.T Sally married Billy Jeff Sherrod on October 27, 1962. They were blessed with two sons, Jeffrey Lynn and Gary Leigh. In addition to her sons, she leaves daughters-in-law, Roxan and Rosa. Known as Nannie to her three granddaughters, Christal Pomeroy and husband Zach, Amanda and Alyssa Sherrod and Gigi to her great-grandson, Kaden Robert Charles Pomeroy and another great-grandson expected in May, Ryder James Pomeroy.
She is survived by her identical twin and brother-in-law, Sara and McNeil Johnson of Wildwood, Texas, her sister Wilma Norman of Searcy, Arkansas, her sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Fred King of Mauriceville, Texas, and brother, Jack Jewell of Ivanhoe, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Sally was an active member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where she served as WMU Director, co-directed Bible School with Sara, and sang in the Church Choir.
She was a proud member of The Joyful Tones, a ladies singing ensemble which sang at church and community activities. In 1998, after 24 years of service as a teacher and principal, Sally retired from Pasadena ISD. Many children, teachers and Parents were touched by her love and compassion.
Visitation with her family is scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m at Wildwood Baptist Church, Wildwood, Texas. The Service to Celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church at Wildwood, Texas. Brother Jimmy Linn and Brother Fred Sherrod will conduct the service. Following the service, interment will be held at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills, Texas under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze.
