Warren Carlisle Sr.

Warren Dewey Carlisle Sr., 73, of LaPorte, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston.

Funeral service was held Monday, May 20 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Old Hardin Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

A native of Coushatta, Louisiana, he retired as a project manager for National Oil Well-Galena Park and was a Master Mason.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jo Carlisle of LaPorte; children, Rebecca Susan Carlisle Ross and husband James of Wiergate, Angelia Waren Carlisle Ulmer and husband Allen of LaPorte, and Warren Dewey Carlisle Jr. of League City; sister, Thurmaline Lowrie of Phoenix, Arizona; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Raymond Prall

Raymond W. Prall, 69, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care.

A native of Holden, Missouri, he had lived in Silsbee a short time. He was a Merchant Marine before retiring and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam conflict.

Survivors include sons, Billy Prall of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Stuart Prall of Spring; daughter, Leila Williams and husband Brian of Silsbee; brother, Charles Gimble of Concordia, Kansas; and six grandchildren.

Linda Curtis

Linda Eileen Curtis, 68, of Silsbee and a native of Woodville, died Friday, May 17, 2013.

Funeral service was Monday, May 20 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Resthaven Cemetery, also in Silsbee.

Survivors include her husband Ray Gene Curtis; children, Ginger Menown and husband Hugh of Houston, Ray Gene Curtis II and wife Rosemary of Silsbee and Scott Curtis and wife Kelly of Silsbee; and two grandchildren.

Audria Harmon

Audria Ann Harmon, 78, of Kountze, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.

Funeral service was Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial in Old Hardin Cemetery, also in Kountze.

A native of Slidell, Louisiana, she had lived in Kountze since 1948 and was a waitress and cook with Frostyland in Kountze.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia “Pee Wee” Hybarger of Kountze; and brother, Edward J. Chadwick and wife Patsy of Saratoga.

Larry Paine

Funeral services for Larry Dale Paine, 70, of Lumberton will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Loeb with interment following in Cunningham Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

Larry died on May 20, 2013 at his home.  

A native of Silsbee, he coached football, baseball and golf and taught school at the high school level for over 45 years in the Beaumont, Vidor, Jasper and Hull-Daisetta school districts.

He was a graduate of Silsbee High School and Lamar University.  Larry obtained a master’s degree from Sam Houston State University.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Loeb and was a former member of the Lumberton ISD school board.  Larry was re-elected to the school board earlier in the year.

Mr. Paine is survived by his wife, Donna Yawn Paine of Lumberton; two sons, Chris Paine and wife Becka and Todd Paine and wife Quannick, all of Lumberton and four grandchildren, Randi Paine, Tiler Paine, Zachary Paine and Maghen Paine, all of Lumberton.  

Other survivors include his brother, Billy Paine and wife Martha of Silsbee; nephews, Marc Paine of Humble, John Paine of Silsbee, Danny Paine of Shreveport, David Paine of Sulphur and Jared Yawn of Denver; niece, Dessie Mullin of Houston and three aunts, Doris Jeffcoat, Maxine Gilmore and Eloise Bean, all of Silsbee.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John Belton Paine, Sr. and Lorraine Paine and two brothers, John Belton Paine, Jr. and Leo Paine.

Kimberly West

Kimberly Ruth “Kimmie” West, 41, of Warren, died Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at Fred Pentecostal Church in Fred under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Fred Community Cemetery, also in Fred.

A native of Center, she was an administrative assistant for Total Safety.

Survivors include her partner, David Elliott; father, Athan Gustafson of Warren; brothers, James Burl West Jr. and wife Shawna of Spurger and Dewayne West and wife Raechelle of Silsbee; and sisters, Pamela Knighten and husband Tracy of Warren, Sandra Eason and husband David of Silsbee, Donna West of Warren, Nancy Gustafson of Call and Penny Gore and husband Truman of Fred.

Robert Gordon Sr.

Funeral services for Robert Payton “Bob” Gordon, 84, of Silsbee will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.  A Masonic and military interment will follow in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.  Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gordon died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his residence after a short illness.

Born in Spurger, Mr. Gordon was a longtime resident of Silsbee.  He worked as a pipefitter and was a 60-year member of Pipefitter’s Local 195.  Robert was also a long time member of the VFW and Masonic Lodge 927.  Mr. Gordon proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Gordon, son, John Darrell Gordon; and brothers, Wayne Gordon, Ray Gordon, Frank Gordon and Mino Gordon.

Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Dorothy Lavone Hooks Gordon of Silsbee; sons, Robert “Bubba” Gordon Jr. of Silsbee, Ronnie Gordon and wife Mary Lou of Fred, Donnie Gordon and wife Judy of Silsbee and Charlie Gordon of Fred; daughters, Pam Drake and husband Paul of Fred and Sabrina Jannise and husband Joel of Leander; sister-in-law, Imogene Gordon of Illinois; fourteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Marshall Gore Sr.

Funeral services for Marshall Dwight Gore, Sr., 82, of Silsbee, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Cunningham Cemetery.  Visitation began at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gore died May 15, 2013 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

A native and lifelong resident of Silsbee, Marshall was a longtime rancher.  He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the US Army.

Mr. Gore is preceded in death by his parents, W K ‘Bill’ and Ada R Eason Gore; sister, Lorraine Paine; and brother, Vernon C Gore.

Survivors include sons, Dwight Gore Jr. and wife Pam of Lumberton and  Kyle Gore and wife Johnnie of Caneyhead; daughters, Kimberly Gore of Silsbee and Melanie Gore of Grayson LA; sisters, Maxine Gilmore, Doris Jeffcoat and Eloise Bean, all of Silsbee; and grandchildren, Robert Bush, Adam Jeffcoat, Andrew Gore, Valirie Starnes, L Cpl Wade Gore, Kenley Comeaux and Shy Ann Hatten and several great grandchildren.

Montie Dever

Montie Elizabeth Dever, 69, of Beaumont, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Oakdale Cemetery in Daisetta. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.

A native of Toomey, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Beaumont, she was a retired antique dealer.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Ferold Dever of Beaumont; sons, Charles L. Dever of Georgia, Phillip P. Dever of Port Arthur and Kyle A. Dever of Labelle; daughter, Cindy L. Maggio and husband Michael of Labelle; brother, David McClain of Pasadena; sisters, Paula Spergon and husband Harold of Baytown and Decia Urtin of Labelle; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Deanna Davis

Deanna Kay Davis, 38, of Lumberton, died Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24 at Crestwood Baptist Church in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Sour Lake. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at the funeral home.

A native of Beaumont, she was a Court Administrator for the City of Beaumont.

Survivors include her husband, Chad Davis; children, Lexi and Cade Davis; father, James Robichaux of Lumberton; and brother, Chris Robichaux and wife Hether of Lumberton.

John Linn Sr.

John Jefferson “Jeff “ Linn Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.  He was born in Port Arthur in 1938 to Edward and Jane Linn and was the second of 3 children. He attended St. James Elementary, Bishop Byrne High School and graduated in 1956 from Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduating in 1961 with a degree in History from St. Edwards University, in Austin, he returned to Port Arthur to work in his family automotive business, Linn Motor Company, of which he later became President. After his retirement from the car business in 1990, he moved his family to their home in Wildwood where he remained until his death.

 Jeff was a devoted husband and father. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Knouff Linn for over 40 years and took great pride in his three children and all of their accomplishments. He loved his 2 young granddaughters dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 siblings, and nephew. He is survived by his wife Mary, of Wildwood, TX, his daughter, Scotia Linn Daugherty of Houston, sons John Linn of Houston, and Edward Linn of Austin, as well as his two granddaughters Scotia Linn and Charlotte Daugherty and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

 Visitation will occur at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N 4th Street, in Silsbee with rosary at 6 p.m.  A funeral Mass will take place at St. Marks Catholic Church in Silsbee the following morning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Texas Home Health Hospice, who provided loving care and comfort during his last six months of life or any Catholic charity.  Pallbearers will be his sons, John Linn, Jr. and Edward Linn; his son-in-law Darren Daugherty; his cousins E. Linn Heartfield, M.D. and the Honorable Thad Heartfield; as well as his friend and in-law Bernie Brown of Port Arthur.

Alvin Dinger Jr.

Alvin E. Dinger Jr., 68, of Kountze, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Berwick, Louisiana, he was a safety coordinator with Scaffold Construction.

Survivors include his wife, Ivy Dinger; children, Sherri Dinger and wife Amy of Morgan City, Louisiana, Crystal Sticker and husband Rufus of Kountze, Paulina McCullen and husband Vernon Threeton of Kountze, Douglas McCullen Jr. and wife Kimberlie of Paris, Timothy Dinger and wife Anita of Independence, Louisiana and Norman Carter and wife Lacey of Tickfaw, Louisiana; sister, Anita Louise Aucoin and husband Yuless of Independence, Louisiana; brothers, Bertrand Dinger and wife Barbara of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and William Dinger and wife Jessica of Missouri; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   

A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.

Nina Haynes

Funeral services for Nina Lucille Looney Haynes, 70, of Fred, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.

Mrs. Haynes died May 20, 2013 at her residence.

She was born in San Antonio, raised in Beaumont and had lived in Fred for 6 years.  Nina was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include son, James LeBlue Jr and wife Cindy of Fred; daughters, Kellie Gore of Silsbee and Rose Placette of Orange; sisters, Mary Smith and husband Nathan of Silsbee and Rebecca Denby of Silsbee; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
