Routine traffic stop nets meth

Lonnie Paul Chance and Debbie Jean Baker

Two people were arrested on Thursday during a routine traffic stop by Silsbee policeman Stephen Hodges.

Hodges’ suspicion questioned 28-year old Lonnie Paul Chance of Silsbee and 36-year old Debbie Jean Baker of Fred.

The officer found 13 baggies of methanphetamine along with $589 in cash in the vehicle.

Both were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. They were transported to Hardin County jail.

The total amount of meth seized weighed less than ½ ounce which is a first degree felony.

The investigation is ongoing by Silsbee police to determine if more individuals are involved.
