The No. 1-ranked Southeast Texas Mavericks (20-1) defeated the Houston Stallions 152-61 last Thursday.
The nondivision game was played at the Mavs’ homecourt inside the Nutty Jerry’s Entertainment Center in Winnie.
The Mavericks, who came into the game with a 19-1 record, won their 29th straight home victory with their dominating win on Thursday night.
The Mavs, ranked No. 1 in the American Basketball League, opened the game on an 11-2 run led by early baskets by Currye Todd, Myles Thrash, and Alex Sanders.
SETX never looked back and led 29-10 at the end of the first quarter. In the second period the Mavericks bench just wore down Houston, a non-ABA team.
Frontline players Brandon Davis and DeSean White led a balanced Mavs attack to lead 68-26 at halftime.
In the second half the stifling Mavericks defense continued led by Desmond Cambridge and Mike Crain.
Jon Rogers, Davis, White, and Lamar Sanders controlled the paint and the Mavericks rolled to their 20th victory of the season.Crain led eight Mavericks in double figure scoring with 23 points. White followed up with a near triple double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assist.
Davis had another double/double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Todd added 20 points. Lamar and Alex Sanders scored 12 points each. Cambridge and Odell Bradley chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively.
Jonathan Simms led Houston with a game high 29 points. Jacole Shivers followed up with 15 points.
The Mavericks will be back at home tonight (Thursday, Feb. 17) against the Houston Red Storm. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MAVS NOTES:
