Vidor man arrested in aggravated robbery attempt

A 26-year old man from Vidor was arrested Monday morning after an attempted robbery turned serious when a weapon was displayed.

According to Lumberton police, Anthony Maurice Schuler entered the Lumberton Walmart at approximately 10 a.m., attempting to steal several items totaling $293.

When he was approached by a Walmart Loss Prevention Team employee , Schuler retrieved a knife and threatened the employee before fleeing the store.

The Lumberton Police Department were immediately notified and the Loss Prevention employee was able to give a description of Schuler, as well as the vehicle he occupied when fleeing the scene.

LPD Officer Cody Davis apprehended Schuler on Forrest Road in Lumberton, shortly after the attempted robbery occurred. Schuler was taken into custody without further incident and was booked into the Hardin County Jail.

He was arraigned Tuesday morning by Justice of the Peace Judge Chris Ingram on one count of aggravated robbery.

Schuler's bond was set at $250,000 and he remains in custody at the Hardin County Jail.
