Daniel Lee Mott, 66 of Caldwell passed away in Caldwell. Services were held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Chapel with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Internment followed in Caldwell Masonic Cemetery. Military Honors provided by VFW Post #4458. The visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Danny was born June 27, 1947 in San Augustine, Texas to parents D.L. Mott and Willie Faye (Hampshire) Mott. Daniel grew up in Silsbee with his mother, Willie Faye and step-dad, R.J. Smith whom Danny always recognized as his father. Daniel enjoyed many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, working with his tractor at the farm and spending time with his grandsons and family. He always cherished his time with all of his Railroad buddies. He served his country in The United States Navy on the U.S.S. Fulton. He was a member of the VFWPost #4458, a member of the Railroad Union, and Past Chairman of the Railroad PAC Committee. Daniel married Alice Courtney January 30, 1976 in Caldwell. He worked for Santa Fe Burlington Northern Railroad for nearly 35 years. Mr. Mott was preceded in death by his parents and his father R.J. Smith. Danny is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Alice Mott, son and daughter-inlaw, Dale & SusanMott, all of Caldwell, TX; a brother, Ronnie Smith and wife Mary of Silsbee, TX.; a sister, Ginger Boddie of Port Arthur, TX.; and by two grandsons, Caleb and Nolan Mott of Caldwell, TX.; and also by other relatives and numerous friends and coworkers. Serving as pallbearers were Jack Campbell, Carl Schilling, Larry Huggins, Ronnie Phillip, Ryan Loehr and Rick Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church Youth or General Fund or charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Caldwell.
