A Silsbee woman is recovering from minor injuries after the vehicle she was driving, crashed into a train in Silsbee on Thursday evening.

Linda Renfro, 53, was traveling west on Avenue G, and allegedly struck a train that was backing up on the tracks across the right-of-way at 2nd Street at 8:40 p.m., Silsbee police said.

The 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe she was driving, slammed into the back rail car as the train was ¾ of the way across the roadway.

Two men were standing on the back rail car with illuminated devices during the crash. They were not injured.

Rail crossing warning signs are erected at the intersection, with street striping. There are no lights or cross bars.

Silsbee Police Chief Mark Davis said that no lights or warning cross bars are required if the rail crossing has proper signs and striping.

Renfro was cited for failure to yield right of way.
