Two Houston men were taken into custody in the early morning hours after Silsbee police responded to a burglary in progress call at a convenience store.

According to a release from Silsbee Police Chief Mark Davis, two men were seen running from the Shop-N-Go convenience store located at 2035 U.S. 96 in Silsbee at 1:23 a.m. on Wednesday.

Officers discovered that the store was allegedly burglarized and an ATM machine inside the building had been damaged.

After searching the wooded area around the store, officers found and arrested a 32-year-old male, and they also found burglar tools and stolen property.

Police set up a containment perimeter around the area near the store, which resulted in the arrest of a second male, 44, after he exited the woods at 6:50 a.m.

Hardin County sheriff’s department assisted in the capture of the suspects.

The identities are being withheld pending arraignment at the Hardin County jail.
