Disturbance call turns to medical emergency

By Daniel Elizondo

Three people were transported to the hospital in Beaumont after a disturbance call turned into a medical emergency in Silsbee on Tuesday afternoon.

Silsbee police were called to the 200 block of East Avenue G in Silsbee at around 3 p.m. in reference to a disturbance that involved two males fighting at the Sullivan Square apartments.

When police arrived, they found that three individuals were allegedly under the influence of drugs and it became an overdose situation.

Police said that the individuals were combative before becoming incoherent. Two males, 21 and 32 years of age and a 37-year-old female were transported to the hospital via ambulance.

Authorities investigating believe that the individuals were smoking a “gumbo” mixture, but there was no preliminary evidence of what the exact mixture of drugs were.

“Gumbo” is commonly a mixture of marijuana or synthetic marijuana with PCP, ecstasy and cocaine, or a variation of two or three of the drugs.

There were no arrests at this time.
