By Meagan Moore

Lola Karnes, born and raised in Hardin County, is retiring as the secretary for the county judge. Karnes has been working at the Hardin County Courthouse for almost 30 years. She stated that at 75, she wanted to retire while she is still able to do something else, like pick up new hobbies. Karnes was hired on when she was about 45 years old by former judge Paul McKinney, who she said was generous enough to give her a job.
