Clarence “C.J.” Howard Jr., 80, of Silsbee, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his home. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 20 at Faith Temple Church in Silsbee with burial following in Kirby Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of J.B. Coleman Memorial Mortuary, also in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 11:40 a.m. until time of funeral at the church. Clarence accepted Christ in his life at any early age and was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church until his health no longer permitted him to do so. He was a graduate of Waldo Matthews School and he retired from Santa Fe Railroad. He also retired from the Bank Barber Shop in Silsbee where he shared his passion “shined shoes”. He also grew one of the best gardens in the city of Silsbee, this to, was a passion of his. Survivors include his wife, Laverne Howard; sister, Lilian Fisher of California; daughters, Felecia Bass of Silsbee and Loreatha Johnson (Willie) of Beaumont: stepdaughter, Sandi Gaines of Houston; sons, Clarence Howard III (Felecia) of Katy and Christopher Howard of Beaumont; step-sons, Robert Gaines (Lisa) of Huntsville and Kelton Gaines of Silsbee; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and a host of step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7.
