Lady Tigers storm into second round

The Silsbee Lady Tigers are focused on the post-season as it reached the second round of the volleyball playoffs.

No. 12 ranked Silsbee (35-4) will face the talented Huffman-Hargrave Lady Falcons on Thursday night in a class 4A area playoff to be held at West Hardin High School scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Silsbee knocked off Shepherd on Tuesday night in a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) to advance to the second round.

The Lady Falcons defeated Houston Wheatley in a 3-0 sweep (25-7, 25-8 25-10) to open its bidistrict playoff.

Huffman-Hargrave finished in second place in District 23-4A behind no. 5 ranked Cleveland Tarkington.

Silsbee lost its final District 22-4A game against Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Tuesday, Oct. 25 to end as co-district champions. The Lady Tigers eventually earned the no. 1 spot in 22-4A after defeating LC-M in a tie-breaker game on Friday, Oct. 28.

The winner between Silsbee and Hargrave will propel the team to the regional quarterfinals to face the winner between Diboll or Liberty.
