The City of Silsbee will search for its third police chief in six months after the abrupt and unexpected resignation of chief Waylan Rhodes last week.

Rhodes on May 8 was named the new police chief for the City of Cameron, a town of just less than 6,000 residents an hour and a half northeast of Austin. Rhodes began his job in Silsbee on Jan. 9 to replace former chief Mark Davis, who’s now the Hardin County sheriff.

The Silsbee Bee reached out to Chief Rhodes through phone calls and email, but he never responded. He did go on the record with the Temple Daily Telegram, however.
