Medical mission a success for local nurse practioner

One Silsbee resident has finally crossed off an item on her bucket list as she was able to travel to Nabaj, Quiche for a medical mission trip put on by a foundation for Via Toro, which was developed by his son, Samuel, because of forced disappearance.

Forced disappearance was huge in that area during the 80’s to people who spoke up against the government or the work place environment, and it happened to Samuel’s father who was found in a mass grave. Since the 1980’s, 45,000 people have been kidnapped or murdered, and this foundation is trying to raise awareness and give back to those communities that do not have the daily luxuries that Americans take for granted.
