City Council OKs tax rate increase

The Silsbee City Council voted 5-1 to pass an ordinance to increase the city tax rate from 40 to 42 cents per $100 property evaluation during its Oct. 16 meeting.

The lone opposing vote was Councilman Thomas Tyler.

The tax is for the maintenance and operation (M&O) expenditures of the city.
