Research ecologist speaks to Kountze High School students

KOUNTZE — Dr. Beth Middleton of the U.S. Geological Survey ( USGS) Wetland and Aquatic Research Center in Lafayette, La., was a guest presenter to 1 50 Kountze High School students.

She shared information on “American Baldcypress Swamps and the Impacts of Climate Change.”

Middleton is president-elect of the Society of Wetland Scientists and a USGS researcher. She has researched cypress swamps, monsoonal wetlands, mangrove swamps and floodplain wetlands in sites all over the world.
