LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Fire Department responded to a house fire on Diana Drive off Cooks Lake Road on Nov. 26. Operations chief Richard Land said there were no injuries as a result of the fire, including first responders. Telephone, cable and power lines were melted as a result of the fire, necessitating repair.

The owner, Jason Burge, said he and his family had vacated the house after Tropical Storm Harvey, which was why the property was vacant. “It was washed to the very back of the property during Harvey, up against the trees in the back yard,” he said. “That’s the only thing that saved it from washing completely away.”
