Pelt says priorities set by Congress for flood control, not recreation control

KOUNTZE — Hardin County commissioners heard from a representative from U.S. Rep. Brian Babin’s office regarding recent legislation to examine and reform local Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hydropower dam licenses to any project that is located in an area that was declared as a disaster area in 2017.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed an amendment Nov. 9 to authorize FERC to examine the licenses. The amendment is waiting for consideration from the Senate.
