Parks E. Walker passed from this life into the next the evening of March 10, 2018. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of more than 61 years, Edith Marie Walker, in 2011. He is survived by his brother, C.A. Walker; children: Gayla and her husband George Strong of Tucson, AZ; Layna and her husband Bob Lamarche of Spokane, WA; David and his wife Donna Walker of Mesa, AZ; his grandchildren Geoffrey Strong, Gillian and her husband Joshua Algar, of Tucson, AZ, and Roxanne Lamarche; his great- grandchildren Kaleb, Isabella and Harmony Algar; and a multitude of friends. Born and raised in Enterprise, MS, Parks graduated High School in 1947, moved to Texas to work for the telephone company and attended East Texas Baptist College, (“E.T.B.C.” which he said stood for Eggs, Toast, Bacon & Coffee) where he graduated in 1955. He and Edith were married in 1949. He answered God’s call to preach and returned to Enterprise, MS to be ordained on August 24, 1950. Parks spent most of his life in SE Texas, except for a few years in New Mexico, and the past eight years in Tucson, Arizona. He was pastor for multiple churches in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. He considered Crestwood Baptist Church his “home church” and loved to return there whenever he visited Texas after he and Edith moved to Arizona. Viewing will be held Friday, March 16, 2018, from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Funeral services will be at Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with internment to follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee.
