‘Hardin County Prepares’ event is successful

KOUNTZE — More than 130 people attended the “Hardin County Prepares” event June 7 in the Kountze Intermediate School Cafeteria sponsored by the Silsbee and Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, and Hardin County Emergency Management.

There were 18 groups who set up tables to distribute information about their organization and services they can provide. There were also more than 30 disaster case management workers helping residents in an adjoining room.

“I feel there were many people who came in the back for the case management or who came in early that we didn’t get recorded,” said Kayla Bishop, executive director for the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce. “Therefore, the numbers could be higher.”
