Silsbee resident Rewa Gilder recently received a certificate in Health Informatics from Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT).

Gilder, a 1989 graduate of Silsbee High School, has been employed as a CNA (certified nursing assistant) at Silsbee Oaks Health Care for 16 years.

Gilder said she started to earn a degree in nursing, when that did not work out she decided to do some research and pursue a different experience in higher learning.

Health Informatics is using healthcare information to foster better communication among all of a patient's healthcare providers.
