PVAC

Third graders at Read-Turrentine Elementary School were recently treated to a special visit from the volunteers of the McFaddin-Ward House. The students learned from the experts some of the finer points of good manners and etiquette by visiting three different hands-on stations. At one, they learned to write thank you notes, then practiced good table manners at the next station.

Famous Country western singers is topic at Woman’s Club meeting

Silsbee Woman’s Club met at the Community Center for their monthly meeting. Hostesses for this meeting was the Texas Heritage Club: Patricia Knowblock, Emily Holt, Charlotte Reed, and Jeanette Tobey.

Denmark native makes the best out of learning Texas as an exchange student in Lumberton

Lumberton ISD is hosting one 16-year-old foreign exchange student who knows exactly what she wants in life and isn’t afraid to go after it. Michella Nielsen has always  wanted to be a part of the student exchange program, and this year she has finally reached her goals.

Silsbee High School classes of 1953 and 1954 will be gathering for a Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 3. Members are encouraged to meet at 11 a.m. at Catfish Cabin on Hwy. 69 in Lumberton.

Silsbee is preparing for a wealth of festivities in conjunction with Silsbee High School homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 3. Silsbee Downtown Revitilization group is organizing the first annual Downtown Tiger Prowl in downtown Silsbee celebrating Silsbee alumni and friends.

Go Texan awards 15 scholarships

The Hardin County Go- Texan Committee is committed to the education of the youth in Hardin County. This year, the committee awarded 15 local scholarships to 2015 graduates from Hardin County schools for a total of $16,500.
