Stephens doubles as Mrs. Claus

Gayle Stephens, also known as Mrs. Clause, will be visiting the Kountze Public Library Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. wearing the outfit of Santa's wife. This will be Stephens' third year in a row to dress up as Mrs. Clause for pictures with children.

Self determination leads to big change in life of Connie Carrier

Connie Carrier of Silsbee woke up one day and decided that she needed to change her life. Her story is one of success, pride, and rehabilitation. Carrier is a loving wife who took care of her ill husband for 33 years. In the process, Carrier forgot to take care of herself and gained a lot of weight from waiting on her husband and not really doing much else.

Raider band prepared for UIL competition

The Lumberton Raider's Band is prepared for their UIL competition on Saturday, October 18 after they scored a superior rating at the Galena Park Marching Contest held on Saturday, October 4. The band performed their entire show to the theme Rhapsody featuring the songs "Rhapsody in Blue," "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini," and last but not least, "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Nichols meets with local superintendents

Sen. Robert Nichols (RJacksonville) met with local superintendents from Hardin County. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss education issues in preparation for the 84th Legislature which convenes in January. "The Legislature faces many challenges this session, and we cannot make good decisions unless we are listening closely to those we represent," said Nichols.

Homecoming Queen

Silsbee senior Leslie Orona is crowned the 2014 Homecoming queen by the 2013 queen Alexis Porzadek on Friday night at Tiger Stadiumin Silsbee. Orona was voted by students at Silsbee High School. Orona was escorted by her father Joel Orona during the ceremony.
