GALLERY: Silsbee Elementary ribbon cutting and tour

 

Silsbee ISD administrators and board members hosted a ribbon cutting along with the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, Oct. 1, commemorating the grand opening of the new Silsbee Elementary campus on South 7th Street. The state-of-the-art facility currently has an enrollment of 1,100. The campus was completed in May with teachers and students beginning classes from grades 1-5 to kickoff the new 2016-17 school year.

PVAC begins new year

The Performing and Visual Arts Council Board of Directors met at Carole Seabrooke’s home on September 22 to begin PVAC’s 2016- 17 year. The board includes Carole Seabrooke, president; Jennifer Spell, vice president; Beverly Barnett, treasurer; Donna Tucker, secretary; and Mark Wilson, program coordinator.

Big Thicket book signing October 1

Big Thicket Day festivities on Saturday, October 1, will include a book signing. Hosted by the Big Thicket Association and Big Thicket National Preserve in recognition of the 2016 Centennial Celebration of the National Park Service, this event will beginning at 10 am. Books will be signed by local authors between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 181 and Pack 181 from Lumberton, are organizing a community 5K/Kid's K run/walk. This event called, “Run with the Pack, Troop/Pack 181" is to bring the community together, promote health and fitness, and increase local business and Boy Scouts awareness.
