SHS girls earn District 24-AAAA honors

Eranishia Carmenar, better known as Symone, of Silsbee was selected as the MVP of District 24-AAAAby the basketball coaches of the league. The junior at Silsbee High School led her team in scoring with a 20.4 average. She also averaged 11.6 rebounds, 169 steals and 19 blocked shots.

Kiwanis Club

Hyundai of Silsbee won the Judge’s Pick and People’s Choice in the Silsbee Kiwanis Cook-off held on Monday, Feb. 8 at Silsbee High School. Presenting a $100 cash prize is, Dean Robinson, Kiwanis;Walter Land, Kiwanis; Fr. John Vanderholt, Kiwanis; Tony Thompson, Hyundai of Silsbee; Sharon Jacobs, Kwanis; Adalaide Balaban, Kiwanis; Herf Donnert, Hyundai of Silsbee; and Casey Copley, Kiwanis.

Hardin County Camera Club

The Hardin County Camera Club met on February 2 at the First Baptist Church in Silsbee. There was a presentation and Q&A on judging photos based on quality. The monthly contest was super macro and the photos were outstanding.

Two districts donate in fight against cancer

Together, Hardin ISD and Kountze ISD participated in the Coaches vs. Cancer benefit and raised $1,616.50. The check will be made out to Jimmy V Foundation and sent to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches so that they can put it in their newsletter that is issued every month.
