The Rice Foundation is accepting applications for the 2016 Rice Leadership Development Program. Rice producers or industryrelated professionals between the ages of 25 and 45 are eligible to apply for the program. The application deadline is October 3.

Lamar University names 1000 students to Deans’ List for spring 2015

A total of 1,000 Lamar University students earned places on the Deans’ List for the spring 2015 semester, deans of Lamar’s five academic colleges announced. To qualify for the Deans’ List, a student must carry a full course load of 12 semester hours or more and have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for that semester. Students with GPAs of 4.0 qualify for the President’s List and automatically earn places on the Deans’ List. Their names are not listed here.

City and EDC remain in good standing after 2013-14 fiscal year

The City of Silsbee 2013-14 fiscal year budget ended in good standing by a small marginal figure. An auditing firm returned the final numbers to the city, and a presentation was made at its Monday meeting at Silsbee City Hall.

Juneteenth celebration set

There will be a 150-year Sesquicentennial Celebration Family Fun Day for Juneteenth at the 21st Street Exquisette Park in Silsbee. The celebration will be held on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m and on Sunday at 2 p.m. On Saturday, there will be fellowship, family fun, history, education, vendors, treats, activities and more.
