The Silsbee Chamber of Commerce, owners, and employees of Moore Chevrolet gathered, Friday for a ribbon cutting that honored the renaming of the local auto business. The company has operated in Silsbee under a variety of names.

Regional planning commission hosted its annual meeting

The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) recently hosted its 45th Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 19, at 6:30 p.m. The Annual Meeting was held at the City of Beaumont Event Centre, 700 Crockett Street, Beaumont, Texas. The SETRPC is a voluntary association of local governments established in June 1970 that includes Hardin, Jefferson and Orange Counties.

Honor students named at Baylor University

More than 3, 900 Baylor University students were named to the Dean's Academic Honor Roll for the 2016 fall semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

It is beginning to be a regular thing for Hayden Daugherty, reaching the state level as a part of his criminal justice class he attends at Silsbee High School. The senior will be making his third appearance at the state level, this year making it to the top in Bunker Gear. So what is Bunker Gear, you ask?

Hardin County Camera Club

The Hardin County Camera Club met on Jan. 3 at the First Baptist Church in Silsbee. The club discussed the operation and effects of the exposure triangle. The monthly contest was "Open" and the winners were , Karen Mullins, first place; Pake Johnson, second and third place; and Lloyd Smith, honorable mention.

Big show set for County Seat Music Hall

Roys to celebrate 50th

William “Bo” and Alice Roy of Lumberton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Monday, January 9, 2017. They were married on that date in 1967 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Bo retired with 41 years service as an engineer with BNSF Railroad and Alice is a retired floral designer. They have done extensive traveling throughout the United States and Canada in their motorhome.

Holy Temple COGIC and Pastor Shan L. Gilder Sr. will be holding a New Year Revival on January 4-6. The revival, which is themed “The Glory of the Lord”, will be featuring Pastor Jeffery Adams of Magnolia Springs COGIC and begins at 7 p.m.
