Truck crash sends on to hospital

There were no serious injuries in a two vehicle accident on Highway 418 between South Hampton and Betty's Bloomers on Thursday. During the early afternoon, Oren Butler of Silsbee was driving a delivery truck westbound when he attempted to make a left turn into a homesite.

Safe at Last

The Silsbee Fire Department received a report of a missing woman on Village Creek shortly before 8:00 p.m. A husband had gone to the creek on Highway 96 to pick up his wife who was paddle boarding. When he could not find her he contacted the fire department.

Commissioners approve bond sale for new annex

The Hardin County Commissioners greeted the announcement by Jim Kelly of U.S. Capital Advisors LLC, enthusiastically Monday that he had received six bids for the counties Certificates of Obligation on the new Courthouse Annex and the low bid was 1.33%. This was well under the 2% level that the Commissioners had anticipated getting.

Reid Barker of Plano could only pray to God for hours on end as he watched his wife Lisa suffer through illness in ICU for several days.

It was a trying time for the young couple that had just married two years prior to begin their life as husband and wife.

One moment, Lisa was preparing to enjoy a wedding party with friends in February 2014 when she felt ill. The next moment, Reid could only watch his wife suffer through pain and suffering with no answers after a routine surgery.

Silsbee Fire Dept. sets fireworks show date

Silsbee Fire Department will host the annual Independence Day fireworks show slated for Thursday, June 30.

The display will be held at Silsbee High School beginning at 9 p.m.

The show is held early each year for spectators to see the different array of fireworks available for purchase.

The show’s fireworks are donated by Texas Outlaw Fireworks of Silsbee.

Silsbee woman suspected of dealing drugs is arrested

Officers find meth, illegal prescription pills, paraphernalia and loads of cash

A Silsbee woman is behind bars after police found excessive amounts of drugs including methamphetamine in her vehicle on Wednesday off of Old Spurger Highway in Silsbee.

Regina Kay Garsee, 48, was arrested by Hardin County Sheriff’s department and suspected to be a dealer after the woman’s vehicle was found with loads of illegal drugs and illegal prescriptions along with a large stash of paraphernalia and cash.

Hardin County narcotics officers had been aware of illegal activity from tips on Garsee for months.
