Authorities investigating allegations of stolen vehicle from Thursday crash in Silsbee

Four people transported with injuries after crash involving four vehicles

Four people were transported to the hospital in Beaumont including one that was in serious condition after a crash on FM 92 and FM 418 in Silsbee on Thursday at 5:40 p.m. that involved four vehicles.

According to Silsbee police, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south on FM 92 and struck a 2005 GMC pickup stopped at the left turn lane intersection of FM 418.

The impact caused a chain reaction that forced the pickup to hit a 2015 Nissan Frontier. The Nissan then struck a 2005 Ford F-250 hauling a 1995 livestock trailer, police said.

Hardin County sheriff’s department is investigating allegations that the Tahoe was stolen.

The Silsbee Garden Club has selected the home of Carol and Edward Kennedy at 112 Willow Bend as the "Yard of the Month" for May. It is certainly true that "April showers bring May flowers." It also brings hearty vegetables, healthy trees, and green grass.

Getting “Buzzy” with final touches

A state-of-the-art convenience store will be openings its doors soon on the south end of Silsbee. Buzzy Bee has been under construction for nearly a year, and the projected opening day is next week, said owner Rafiq Momin.
“We’ve had a lot of rain that has pushed us back,” Momin said. “Hopefully we will be ready for next week. Everyone is scrambling to get little things done.”

Suspect arrested in fatal shooting

Silsbee man questioned and detained after 24 hours.

Kountze and Silsbee PD along with Hardin County Sheriff's office questioned and arrested a Silsbee man in the fatal shooting of James Steven Clem of Lumberton after a drug deal gone bad in Kountze on Tuesday evening.

Kountze Police Chief Brent Slaughter said witnesses and family came forward before police detained and questioned 28-year-old Terrance Williams of Silsbee at the Silsbee Police Department.

After lengthy questioning, Williams punched a brick wall at the Silsbee PD causing an injury to his hand that forced authorities in transporting him to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

Kountze PD returned with Williams at around 1 a.m. on Thursday morning to book him into the Hardin County jail and charge him with murder.

Kountze PD seeks killer in fatal shooting

Lumberton man pronounced dead at convenience store parking lot.

A Lumberton man is dead following a fatal shooting that was sparked by what police say was a botched drug deal.

James Steven Clem, 27, was pronounced dead at the Shop-N-Go convenience store on Highway 69 in Kountze, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the shoulder at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

According to Kountze Police Chief Brent Slaughter, Clem and two females, one being his common-law wife, were near a vacant home at the corner of 4th Street and Beech Street in Kountze to purchase drugs in an F-150 pickup extended cab pickup.

During the deal, one male attempted to take the money from Clem, who was driving the pickup, and fired one round of a 40 caliber pistol that struck the driver in the left shoulder, police said.

Kountze ISD board members voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Chet Deaver as the new high school principal for the upcoming school year. Deaver has been with the district for over a decade and has no plans of leaving any time soon, as his passion is in education and teaching the future generations.

Motorcycle rider critical after 1-vehicle crash

One man was critically injured after the motorcycle he was driving went into a skid, throwing him to the pavement on Hwy. 96 near the intersection of Durdin Street in Silsbee on Saturday at around 11:15 a.m. It was the second motorcycle accident in the vicinity within a months time.
