Fire damages Silsbee home

A house fire caused extensive damage to a home outside of Silsbee on Sunday. Silsbee Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire at 9:45 a.m. at 4085 Highway 96 north of Silsbee and found the structure spewing smoke from the attic.

Fire at the Dragon Plant

A passerby captured a fire that broke out at the Dragon Plant in Silsbee on Tuesday at around 4 p.m. According to the Silsbee VFD, contractors were torchingmetal to break up a large piece of unused machinery to the building when wood chips and insulation caught fire.

Donation information for Spurger family

Accounts for the Loftin family that lost four children and all of their belongings in a mobile home fire, have been set up.

Parents Amanda and Jimmy Loftin lost four children ages 4-8 in a fire that destroyed the family’s mobile home in the early morning hours on Wednesday in Spurger.

The couple survived with their two youngest, 2-year-old daughter Kayan and 5-month-old son Thomas.

An account at Citizens State Bank in Spurger has been set up under Loftin, and a GoFundMe account has been setup online.

Those wishing to donate clothing and items can take them to Spurger Elementary or the Tyler County Booster in Woodville.

The family needs:

Four children killed in mobile home fire

Four children ranging in ages 4-8 were killed as a result of a mobile home fire in the early morning hours on Wednesday in Spurger.

The Tyler County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a mobile home fire at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday on County Road 4547 in Spurger.

The caller told Tyler County dispatch that there were children in the trailer at the time of the fire, but that some of the occupants had escaped.

When firefighters arrived, they found four children in the burning home deceased.

The mother and father escaped with their 2-year-old and 5-month-old baby.

The mother and two children were transported to Tyler County Hospital. The mother suffered minor burns and the two children suffered smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire continues to be investigated by state fire marshals.
