Motorcycle crash claims life

A 66-year-old man was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident on Sunday morning before 10 a.m. Ronald CurtisWilliams of Lumberton had been traveling westbound on FM 21 on his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crashed.

Fire destroys home

Silsbee Fire Department battled a blaze on Sunday evening and 18 hours later, they were called to the same location after sparks rekindled. Fire crews were called to a home on the corner of Ducote Road and Cravens Camp Road north of Silsbee on Sunday evening around 8 p.m.

Pentecostal church in Silsbee honors law enforcement officers

The First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee honored all law enforcement officers and employees with a banquet on Thursday evening.

Pastor Homer Looper hosted the event with a meal and honor the work the officers do to protect Hardin County.

Speakers included Silsbee Police Chief Mark Davis, Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins, 356th District Judge Steve Thomas, and Hardin County Sheriff Ed Cain.

Slick roads end chase

On Friday at about 12:28 p.m., two 17-year-olds led cops in a high speed chase with a stolen car before losing control and crashing. Driver Tikeldron Elam of Silsbee and passenger Markell Warren of Kountze were followed from Beaumont to Kountze before officials could stop them.

Lesser sentence

A Hardin County jury showed more compassion towards a second assailant in the aggravated robbery of two Lumberton women in April 2013. On Thursday, the jury found Malik Washington guilty of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping, however, the same jury of 11 sentenced the 24-year old Beaumont man to 10 years in prison

Newly elected Hardin County Judge Wayne McDaniel Jr. is sworn in by 356th District Judge Steve Thomas on Thursday, Jan. 1 at the Hardin County Courthouse. McDaniel was elected in November and takes over for Billy Caraway who served for 16 years as county judge.

Lumberton woman killed on Friday

A Lumberton woman was killed in a single car crash in Beaumont on New Years Day. According to Sgt. Rob Flores Jr., officer responded to the call at around 5:49 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1. Deborah McRoberts, 53, was killed after her vehicle veered off of the road and struck a safety barrier on Interstate 10 over 7th Street.

Synthetic pot gets nasty repercussions

Synthetic marijuana has continually increased in creating problems for law enforcement and health issues for those who smoke it. Lumberton Police Department received three different phone calls within four days dealing with issues concerning the drug.
