Cruz Lopez Jr.

Cruz Lopez Jr., 67, of Silsbee, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, October 7 at First Assembly of God Church in Silsbee under the direction of Robinson Funeral Home in Silsbee. Born in Ramones, N.L. Mexico, he retired from Louisiana Pacific. Survivors include his children, Oscar Saul Lopez, Cruz  David Lopez, Lidia Lopez, Flor Esteia Lopez, Anna Isavel Orona and Norma Yesenia Lopez; and 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Betty Creamer

Betty Minta Harred Creamer, 81, of Warren, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017. A graveside service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 4) at Allison Cemetery in Warren under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Born in Normandy, Texas, she retired as a Security Specialist with the Navy at John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Mississippi in 1993. She moved to Warren in 2001. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jesse Allen Creamer; children, Timothy Creamer of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Michael Creamer and wife Dona of Georgetown, Kevin Creamer of Austin and Kristen Lambert and husband Guy of Warren; sister, Mildred Pollock and husband Bill of Lubbock; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

James Elliott

James Michael Elliott, 75, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Bay Area Regional Medical Center in Webster. He was born on November 21, 1941 to Sybil Banks and James Robert Elliott in Olla, Louisiana. James was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. He was a retired Pipefitter with Local 195. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years and eleven months, Edna Elliott; children, Michael Wayne Elliott and his wife, Dalia, of Baytown and Michele Elaine Armand and her husband, Jason, of Friendswood; grandchildren, Bella Michele Elliott, Christopher Michael Elliott, Amos James Armand, and Aiden Michael Armand; and siblings, Larry Elliott and Rhetta Sue Parette. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Elliott; and sister, Marcia Kay Courts. A gathering of Mr. Elliott's family and friends was from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.

Tristan Dilley

Tristan Hope Dilley, 14, of Buna, died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday. Born October 3, 2002 in Beaumont, Tristan was a longtime resident of Vidor and had lived in Buna a couple of years. She was a freshman at Silsbee High School, a cheerleader, and participated in several sports including volleyball, softball, track and basketball. Tristan was a sweet and compassionate young lady who was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bobby Verdine

Bobby Gene Verdine, 85, of Alvin, TX passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born July 21, 1932 to Edvole Verdine and Minnie Mae Rose Verdine in Beaumont, TX. Bobby attended Texas A&M and graduated in 1955. He was a member and deacon at South Park Baptist Church in Alvin since 1968. He started his educational career in Alvin, TX with the Alvin ISD in 1968 as the principal at Mark Twain Primary and later moved to R.L. Stevenson Elementary. He had the respect of students, faculty members, other principals and the parents. In 1992, he moved to a position in the Central Administration Building. He eventually became the acting Superintendent of the schools and retired in 1999. He was elected to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Alvin Independent School District for 9 years, where he continued to represent the citizens by looking out for the operations of the school district. In 2016, the Alvin ISD Agricultural Science Center was dedicated to Bobby G. Verdine.

Wayne Alvis Payne, 82, of Kountze, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Funeral service was Monday, October 2 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton. Born in Hemphill, he served his country honorably for 20 years; first, 12 years in the U.S. Army and then 8 years in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Dorothy Mae Payne; children, Teresa Young and husband Ray, Charlie Payne and wife Cherry, Debra Dosch and husband Del and Brigitte Holick and husband Joey; step-daughter, Denise Barnhill; step-son, DeVaine Barnhill Jr. and wife Amanda; brothers, Esker Lee Payne and wife Vada and Arthur Payne and wife Anna; and 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Kincaid and wife Carlyn of Corpus Christi; sisters, Pat Cooper of Lumberton and Johnnye F. Corley and husband Ernest of Corpus Christi; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was born in Gist. A graveside service was at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 4) at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Survivors include her children, Alta Fay Adams of Houma, Louisiana, Margaret Kay Bass of Hemphill, Hooper Jackson Parsley Jr. of Michigan, and Emma Elvira Luckey of Silsbee; brothers, Joe Willey and Fletcher Wiley, both of Buna; sister, Elsie O’Neal of Buna; and 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
