Margaret Burdette

Margaret Ann Matthews Burdette, 73, of Silsbee, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born in Silsbee. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. Survivors include her children, Wade Burdette of Silsbee, Wesley Burdette and wife Michelle of Beaumont, and Callie LeJune and husband Troy, Leah Burdette, and Rachel Burdette McNamara, all of Silsbee; siblings, Sue Burt and husband James of Buna, Joyce Beaver of Silsbee, Nell Work and husband Pat of Kountze and Tony Matthews and wife Carey of Lumberton; and grandchildren, Terrie LeJune of Brazoria and Garrett LeJune and Arwyn McNamara, both of Silsbee; and great-grandchild, Kole LeJune of Silsbee.

Luther E. “Curly” Calloway Sr., 69, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He was born in Silsbee. Funeral service was Saturday, January 6 at First Assembly of God Church in Kountze. Survivors include daughter, Linda Smith; son, David Calloway; brothers, Alton Jenkins and Douglas Gore; sisters, Dell Montgomery and Rachel Lewis; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James Greenwood

James Arthur Greenwood, 68, of Fred, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. His graveside service was Thursday, January 4 at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Born in Silsbee, he worked as a supervisor for Kirby and Louisiana Pacific and retired as owner operator of Greenwood Lawn Service. Survivors include son, Doot Greenwood and wife Christina of Spurger; daughters, Amy Johnson and Kim Spurlock and husband Jason, all of Fred; sisters, Martha Gore of Silsbee and Paula Hicks of Spurger; and six grandchildren.

Lazell Miller Jr.

Lazell Miller Jr., 46, of Beaumont, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Silsbee with burial following at Kirby Cemetery, also in Silsbee under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 5 p.m. Friday, January 12 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Demetral Miller of Beaumont; children, Kendal Semien of Beaumont and Datashia Burrows of Kountze; sisters, Linda Freeman of Beaumont and Latricia Sorina and husband Anthony of Slidell, Louisiana; and brother, Wilbert Shaw and wife Kourtney of Beaumont.

Iva Clark

Iva Rae Caywood Clark, 80, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at a Beaumont hospital. Funeral service was Friday, January 5 at Woodcrest Methodist Church in Lumberton with burial following at Hooks Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. She retired from Sears in Beaumont with 17 years service as a salesperson in the hardware department. She was a 50 plus year member of the Order of the Easter Star, Chapter 298 in Silsbee. Survivors include her husband, Thomas H. Clark of Lumberton; son, Clayton Caywood and wife Denise of Lumberton; daughter, Felecia Caywood Colton and husband Mike of Kountze; step-children, Thomas Clark Jr. and wife Jo of Beaumont, Rob Clark and wife Jana of Bridge City and Teresa Clark Reza and husband Jerry of Bridge City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann Jenkins

Jo Ann Hooks Jenkins, 76, of Silsbee, passed away on Saturday, January. 6, 2018 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Jo Ann was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was born and raised in Spurger. She lived the rest of her life in Silsbee, where she married Dick Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (Dick) Jenkins; her parents, Steve and Minnie Hooks; and two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Eason and husband Lavoy of Spurger, Janet Whitmire and husband Jimmy of Vidor, and Tammy Hollyfield and husband Norman of Village Mills; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January. 11, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N. 4th St., Silsbee, Texas 77656. Funeral Services will be on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Wayne Watts officiating.

Linda Susan Tanton, 74, of Silsbee, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018. Her graveside service was Tuesday, January 9 at Fred Community Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Survivors include her husband, Curtis Tanton; children, Clinton Leo Tanton, Lindsey Ard and husband Mitchell and Aaron Wayne Tanton, all of Silsbee; and four grandchildren.

Betty Lou “Betty Boo” Strawther, 72, of Call, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. Survivors include sons, Jimmy Wayne Strawther and wife Sheila of Call and Michael Lee Strawther and wife Janice of Spurger; daughters, Sheila Ann Crawford of Nacogdoches and Lisa Jean Trasher and husband Jackie of Kirbyville; three brothers; three sisters; and 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Committal was handled by Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.

Donald Young

Donald Frank Young, 80, of Silsbee, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 10) at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, also in Silsbee. He was a boilermaker by trade and a member of Boilermaker Local #26. He was also a United States Air Force Korean War veteran. Survivor include son, James W. Young of Winston Salem, North Carolina; daughter, Jodie Trombley and husband David Coudrain of Silsbee; brother, Lukas Young of Winston Salem; and seven grandchildren.
